I have been using www.pcgr.com for a few years and have appreciated the "no sales" pure-information approach that was used. Every other gaming site I tried simply sucked because of all the integrated high pressure sales incorporated into the content.
Now pcgr has just simply joined the crowd and in my opinion reduced useful content to a minimum and surpassed all others in high pressure web sales.
If anyone knows of links to gaming sites similar or close to the old style, please post them. nforce.nl is the closest I have seen.

answering my own post:
I went to www.google.com and entered pcgr.com.
I then clicked on:
Find web pages that are similar to pcgr.com
and found some nice alternatives:
http://www.3dgamers.com/
http://home.dailytelefrag.com/
A link page:
http://dmoz.org/Games/Video_Games/Computer_Platforms/Windows/
If the old site is for sale, I would love info on purchasing it and standing it up at an alternate URL.

Though I feel your pain when I browse the site myself sometimes, advertising is a necessary evil in the world of community websites. For the shear size of this site (and our 10 other sites), there's no way we could keep it open if we didn't have someone paying the bills. We try to keep content the number one focus of the site, and yes, sometimes we fail. Being an internet business who offers free membership to our users, we have to make money somehow, or the doors will close. I can gaurantee you that any large gaming site you choose will end up with same challenges as us at some point.
That's the problem with the internet - everyone wants the information found on the web to remain free, yet they don't care that it costs money to publish this information. And they're upset when they're bombarded by advertising to help offset the cost. We're not trying to get rich here, just trying to stay in business. If you're willing to pay a monthly membership fee along with our other thousands of users, then I'm sure we could do something about the ads.
As requested by Chris, please post any new questions/comments to this thread about the site change.
