Alright people. You've had three or four days now, so let's hear 'em! Has there been a time yet that Halo2 has just made your jaw drop in amazement or laugh hystarically? I'll start off.

Funniest moment: During the second level on earth, I tossed a well placed grenade into the middle of a covenant squad, blowing every last one of them to smithereens. A nearby marine looked at me and said "If you meant to do that, YOU DA MAN!"

Coolest moment: Seeing a marine and an elite, after a tough round of battle, each hiding behind cover to catch their breath and hurl insulting taunts back and forth. That kicked royal ass.

So far, I have two moments, though i'm not far in the game:

1) Destroying everything in my path while driving the Scorpion Tank over the bridge.

2) Running beside the Scarab while throwing grenades and rockets towards the Covenant. I would have added jumping onto the Scarab, but my two attempts so far have been misses (Damn FP-view) since I tried to jump onto the back and catch the Cov by suprise.

And yes, I caved in and got the game :(

One of my favorite moments was when the piece of ship or whatever started to fall after I cut the the cords.

Heh, heh. Piece of ship.

My jaw literally dropped when I thought I was going on to the next level and the game ended.

Maybe there's something extra when you beat on Legendary?

There were so many great moments. It seems each time I saw something incredible, something I just didn't expect, something else would come along and blow my mind.

Obviously, the first time you use the arbiter is just fantastic. Watching all of the elites and grunts walk amongst you cloaked carrying energy swords was incredible. Too bad, they all got smoked after the first skirmish, at least on Heroic.

Enemies take flight...when I first encountered the jet-pack soldiers and those pesky flying jackal-insect things, I was floored. That was something i just didn't expect to encounter.

The brutes...ahh I just have so much affection for the brutes. I just love how when you kill one, the other just drops his weapons and comes charging after you, are they lovers? I also love their little skull caps. If you notice, when u snipe, the first shot will pop off their helmet, the second shot will drop 'em dead.

There was one moment, as the arbiter, the brutes wreaked havoc killing all the Elites and grunts. When you walk through the temple, you see surviving grunts, literally trembling and cowering in fear. They won't even help you fight anymore, they just look so sad and helpless.

Going back into the Covenant leaders temple as the MC, with the lights off, and only your flashlight to guide you. People complain about having to repeat levels. I guess this is what they were talking about. For me, repeating this level was one of the most terrifying moments I've had in gaming. On heroic, death is just a moment away, so going back through this level, lights off, electricity crackling, flood and brutes popping from around the corner. And just seeing those damn flood amist the haze, and low light, shaking and bubbling and popping was just eery as hell. But gripping my shotgun and taking it slow made me feel all warm and cozy, in the midst of hell.

The Marine Lt and the Arbiter teaming up, also unexpected. I tried to get into his scarab, I landed my Banshee on top and tried to go below to the control center, but they had a force field blocking the door. That damn Lt was pretty smart, cause I was gonna jack his arse, good thinking Bungie.

The Gondola fighting, again, was incredible. I don't know if some of the feeling and edge would be lost to people who played on normal mode. But fighting on those Gondolas was intense as hell. Grabbing the sniper rifles to pick as many as you can long distance, grabbing rocket launchers taking out vehicles, grabbing basic rifles to fighting the rest who made it onto your gondola, then as the gondola approached, getting ready to charge the enemy.

Anyway, the most surprising moment came at the end. I simply did not the think the game was going to end. I don't feel cheated, just shocked, and no other game has really just stopped immediately like that mid-story. I was all ready for the next mission to launch, then I saw a black screen for several seconds, and i thought, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO this can not be the end!

Yet it was....that was Halo2, 6 days, and now we must wait, three years to get the next fix.

MC: "boo!"

and now that you mention it, TMG, yeah the first time those 'bugs' showed above the elevator you have to secure... I thought to myself "now THIS is Halo 2!"

1) "Ohh, I know what the ladies like." - Sargeant Johnson; Halo 2

I don't even have to think about it, the opening chapter of the Metropolis mission, "Ladies Like Armor Plating", aka "the bridge" - or what I like to call, 'Rolling Thunder on crack' - is my absolute favorite level. My first time thru, I blasted a Ghost and sent it into a violent quadruple somersault flip - right up and over the side of the bridge. BOOM baby!!! Oughta here! See ya! There have been (and continue to be) a lot of shout out loud moments in this game for me, but that time I actually jumped out of my chair pumping my fist (along with the bellowing of a lot of expletives) - I am crapping you negative.

2) Fighting alongside Hunters. Holy wow, was that awesome! My second thought was like, 'Aw, they probably won't do much, and they probably wont last long... nobody does' (my first being, 'Cool!'); but damn was I wrong. Do they carry their weight, or what?!? They are undoubtedly the heavyweight champions of the universe. I saw even a charging Brute get folded up like a warm tortilla by them; my two new bestest buds in the world.

3) The ferociously fatal lock-on lunge attack with the Energy Sword. BOOYAH!

4) This was actually one of my least favorite moments for the first two hours of my first time thru the game, but I eventually became fascinated by it, and now I really dig the sound effect. It being the freaking out that the "dead" Ghosts and Banshees do, of course. I mean, what the heck is up with that?!? It took me a while to figure out what was going on, and I gotta tell you, in that time before I finally did, I was really spooked out.

5) Hi-jacking vehicles. Any vehicles. It's all good. Of course, punching that punk Regret in the face is great. But then again, hi-jacking a Wraith is even better.

6) Gravemind. (The character, not the mission. Well, actually, parts of this mission are great.)

7) Fighting alongside Michelle Rodriguez is pretty neat too. (Though try as I may, I just can't keep her alive for very long. :( ) Come on, don't you think?

-

My least favorites - in reverse order:
7) Looking forward to hearing that great opening Bungie theme - and then hearing... this. (Is that really Steve Vai? Because I love Steve Vai. But... damn. Bad way to start. You know I was thinking, 'Oh boy, here we go...'.)
6) Cortana's new look. (Wha happen?!? Eww.)
5) Legendary difficulty. (It is a totally different game. And I don't like it. Instead of run and gun, it's hide and die. Which is not what Glockstar calls fun.)
4) The Brutes. (I do not like these people.)
3) Tartarus. (The character, the level... everything about this a-hole actually. Especially his damned weapon.)
2) Those sniping Jackals. (Especially, on Legendary. Bull*bleep*!)
1) Drones. (I HATE these things!)

Hah. You started effing around already too, eh?

The hata's never got that that was one of the great things about Halo. Then again, I doubt that they really actually sat down and played the game. They probably just played the super easy demo at the vg store - and with a broke down controller - you know?

Anyways, trying to jack the scarab... nice!

I guess the wackiest thing I've done so far in H2 is take the Scorpion tank where no Scorpion tanks are allowed: You know how at the end of "the bridge" you have to next go thru the tunnel? Well, right after two marines in a Warthog join you - and zoom on ahead - you come to a barricade. Which is where the lady marine gives you a shotgun and says something to the effect of, 'It's close quarters fighting up ahead'. Well... eff that. And eff her. Keep your useless shotgun lady, I've got "divine intervention"! And no flood-gates are going to stop me! I just drive that tank right over that barricade! Of course, I had to "position" a truck I blasted (tho' the Warthog works well too) in front of the wall in order to make it over, but... ;) I tell you it, makes that whole close quarters combat thing a lot easier. Not easy, just easier. You still have a couple of Commander Elites to keep your eye on... along with the Grunts throwing grenades... and those infernal sniping Jackals. I couldn't see me making it past there (on Heroic) without it tho'.

Forget about taking it over the second wall. It's impossible. Plus, there's no real need anyway* - you have to hoof it thru the service tunnel - which is right there - to the amphitheatre.

* = Though I would like to drop that tank on that Jackal's head - that's camped/hiding out on the other side of the wall - one time. Just once!

I just started replaying the game on legendary and for some reason the Grunts seem to be a lot bolder and there are a lot more insults, cussing, and provoking going on. Sometimes they'll mutter some weird things that make you think, "did it just say what I think it said?" Sometimes it catches me off guard and has me laughing so much that one of those jackals just snipes my arse. Those things really make the game much harder now. If you run out into the open with one of those things around you're pretty much dead. Those flying insects on legendary also also a pain.

I think the little details in the game really sets it apart. This is what most of the people who are bashing the game really don't understand. They don't play it enough to see these little nuances or they just play it on the easier levels and don't really take in all the game has to offer. All the little details in Halo 2 make it seem like you are immersed in a living world (or as real as a game can make it seem). This doesn't fully come out until you play it on the harder difficulty levels though.
