.... or possibly postponed. They're not really clear but right now, it isn't looking good.

October 22, 2004 - Somebody up there must hate us all, because one of the most promising titles of 2005 is no longer in development. Peter Molyneux has posted a notice on Lionhead's site stating that B.C. has essentially been canned.

"The decision to suspend work on any games project is always a very difficult one, particularly when it is a title with the potential of BC," wrote Molyneux. "We hope to revive the project at a later date and will endeavour to assign as many of the team as possible to other Lionhead projects."

B.C. was being developed by Intrepid Entertainment for the past three years. No official explanation as to why the title is being suspended have been offered yet. Some may remember that in late 2003, Lead Designer Ben Cousins left the project for unspecified reasons, which brought about initial concerns for the current direction of B.C.

Though production may resume at some point on B.C., it seems fair to assume it will have to wait until the release of Microsoft's next console.

The oddest part of all this is that Lionhead had already announced it was working on a sequel to B.C.. Consider this two cancellations (or officially "postponements") in one day.

We'll have more of the death of B.C., including an official comment, later toay.

Yeah, given that the game was going to take place in the prehistoric era, BC stood for what it actually means.

I'm not surprised BC was canned, considering how long it took for Lionhead's last game (Fable) to come out. This will probably end up on one of the next generation systems if they decide to use the can opener on it later.

Get it? Canned, can opener? (Ok, it's not funny).

It was another game full of Bullchip promises. It was being focused tested at MS headquarters, my guess, the tests didn't go so well. This was a game where you had a prehistoric tribe, that was supposed to evolve and compete with dinosaurs. The tribe was supposed to learn skills, adapt technology such as fire, and knives into weapons to combat dinosaurs, just like early man did(although early man wasn't around for dinosaurs). Anyway, just think back to all the crap that nut, PM said Fable would do, now look at what Fable actually does. Anyone can see LIONHEAD was probably having less success implementing all that stuff with BC, than they did with Fable.

Thank you BC for going away, now, if only LIONHEAD's whole shop would go away.

Whoa, that's a far cry from the Molyneaux cheerleading you used to do. Has the love affair ended?

I applauded PM for trying to introduce new concepts into gaming, even though B&W wasn't the greatest game, at least he tried to break through old conventions. It sounded like he was on his way to doing that with Fable and BC. However, it turned out to be false or just game gimmicks. But, he kinda burned the bridge when they never retracted the things they said would be in the game. At that point, it became a marketing ploy, which worked very effectively considering the sales. Of course, after the game sales through the roof, he comes out and apologizes for all the over-hyping. He could and should have done that before the game was released.

Lionhead needs to make sure they put a muzzle on PM anytime they are developing a game. I'm pretty sure BC wouldn't have lived up to its hype, even if they hype started to die down.
