So what online games does everybody have here and are playing and what nights are we free it seems like we talk more on the Messageboard than actually gaming together. So I would like to start something up on Wednesday nights or Sunday nights because I know I'm available everyone of those nights. But I'm flexable.

The Live games I have are

Mechassault
Crimson Skies
Raibowsix Black Arrow
Counter strike
Splinter cell (not in my possesion right now though)
Burnout 3 (really want to start with this game)
RTCW
ESPN 2k5 (the whole Espn series on xbox actually)
PSO (but I'm not paying to play it play it for two months free after I bought it for 10 bucks)
Unreal Championship
MotoGp 1
Starwars Battlefront

My preference right now is BO3 but I really need to unlock more cars. But anything would be cool. So list your games and time preferences

Good idea,

I can be available Wednesday nights and Sunday nights, in addition to Thur, Fri, and Sat nights. Really i'm flexible at the moment, now that the kids are back in school, they are in bed mucho early, so when ever.

As far as games.

Starwars Battlefront
Burnout3(though if by next week I can't get some good games going, its gone)
BlackArrow + R63
Pandora Tomorrow
Toca2
MGP2
PGR2

in that order of preference at the moment.

Today starting about 4pm to about 7pm, and then later in the evening maybe after the debates, i'll be online hosting some Battlefront rooms and maybe some Burnout3. So i'll look for you Thumbs. I haven't seen Methadone online in ages, Tappy can usually be found playing Burnout3, but it is hard sometimes to get into his rooms for some reason.

4 to 7 is a little early for me. I know I'm going to watch the debates tonight So If you're on Battlefront I'll be there. I think we are the only two on this board that has the game though.

I seen meth playing Vietcong over the weekend I was thinking WTF? I don't even have Tappy on my list I think I tried sending him a request but he was full. Tappy send me a invite.

I was just saying the same thing about you. I've been doing lots of Colin McRae lately. I was actually dominating most of the races yesterday morning (I have never dominated like that before in a game. I actually felt bad and was purposely picking the weaker cars to give the other guys a chance). However, I met some other CM vets late last night who promptly showed me my place. My ELO ranking shot up to almost 2000 from yesterday morning, and then last night dropped back down to the 1800's. (Ranking system is identical to Toca 2). My 15 minutes were up.

BTW, you still have Wolfenstein, Havok?

Wednesdays are good for me. I am available on every Wednesday from 8pm - midnight, Eastern. I am available every other Sunday night (but work the alternating Sunday evenings). Monday and Tuesday nights are the best for me, but Wednesday is also OK as well.

Games that I have for Live:

- Wolfenstein
- Counterstrike
- Unreal Championship
- Unreal 2
- Both Rainbow Six 3 games
- Soldier of Fortunte 2
- Pandora Tomorrow

- Burnout 3
- Toca 2
- MotoGP1 and 2
- Project Gotham 2
- Colin McRae 5
- Midtown Madness
- Sega GT Online
- Corvette (umm ... let's never play this, please)

- Full Spectrum Warrier
- Crimson Skies
- Topspin

----------------------------------------

Games that I think would make good choices for us to play together:

- Pandora Tomorrow
- Wolfenstein
- Counter Strike
- Rainbow Six
- Midtown Madness
- Moto GP2 or Toca 2
- Burnout 3
- PGR2

These tend to lend themselves to a lot of teamwork or just plain fun. I would especially like for us to get a game of Pandora Tomorrow and Wolfenstein togther, as I think both are very good games online.

NICE!

Wednesday nite would be best for me. I could prolly be on around... 9:30 (?) (EST).
(But not tonite. Not until late anyways.)

My XBL Library:
*MotoGP 2 - - (I sure wouldn't mind playing this one again. I think. (?))
*Links 2004 - - (I LOVE this game, but don't like how "everybody" only wants to play Speed Golf online. :( )
*Project Gotham Racing 2 - - (Why did I ever stop playing this...? )
*TOCA 2 - - (I like the wacky races best, to tell you the truth ;) )
*Indy Car Series 2005 - - (Still... not... ready... yet... )
*Mortal Kombat: Deception - - (I'll get my azz kicked - I ain't gonna lie)
*ESPN NFL 2K5 - - (see above)
*Crimson Skies - - (Like Mechassault, I really don't like the online part.)
*Outlaw Volleyball - - (I think I'm the only one who still has this game.)
*RTCW - - (Yeah! Anytime, anyplace, anywhere. I'm not saying that I'm any good - just ready, willing, and able.)

*Tetris/SW:Clone Wars - - (Haven't played it Live yet.)
*SC: Pandora Tomorrow - - (ditto.)
*Rainbow Six 3 - - (ditto.)

I missed you guys last night, I was on till about 7pm EST, then I watched the debates and didn't come back online.

Today, right now its about 8pm EST, I just finished gaming with DrunkenThumbs for a few hours doing Battlefront.

I WILL BE BACK ONLINE at about 9pm EST.

Drunken, Glock, Meth, and myself, we all have Splinter Cell2, so lets do this fellas, this would be great.

You know guys we need to just give each other our cell numbers so we can really get coordinated. If anybody wants mine I'll PM it to you.

I think the only game we all have is SC:PT. Three of us have BO3, three of us have R6:BA. Three of us have MGP2.

I forgot that I still have Midtown Madness, i'd love to play some hunter. I also still have TOPSPIN.

Anyway, signing off. be online tonight in about an hour or less.

I'd agree with that. Pandora Tomorrow is a very unique game that allows for hundreds of different strategies. It's best when played with friends or a group who will stick with the game for a few hours.

Pandora Tomorrow online has a rather steep learning curve, which is why it is hard to get into by just joining random public rooms. And joining in public rooms will usually result in you getting your ass stomped hard, and you won't learn much and thus not have fun. However, when played with friends, the game is much more enjoyable, even if you don't win and even if its your first time online.

We could pair up one guy who has experience with one guy who doesn't. So like, Havok with Glock or Thumbs and me with Glock or Thumbs .. but not both Havok and I on the same team as we have both played the game online before (with Havok being much more skilled than I).

---------
BTW, Glock: For some reason, I don't think we'll ever convince Havok to play Wolfenstein online. There's something about that game that he just can't get into. Shame too, since you, myself, Havok, Thumbs, and Tappy all should have this game.

Got together with Methadone last night for some Rainbow6, so wassup for tonight fellas?

Who ever can be online tonight sound off. Maybe we can do some Burnout3 or Project Gotham2 if we can't all get together for SC:PT. I think we can probably count on Tappy in Burnout3, Tappy you feel like hosting since you have the most tracks unlocked?

I'll be running SW:Battlefront games starting about 4pm until about 6pm EST. I can be online later tonight if we can get something concrete setup.

You are exactly right about that. I played it online for a bit but from my experience the community wasn't that good. I've had maybe to good games online with this. I've lent it out But I can get back early next week so maybe next week. Tonight I'm free the wife is going out with her girlfriends (so she says ;) ) so I'll be free tonight burnout sounds cool with me. I've unlocked some decent cars so I'm down.

As far as VGR gamers night Wednesday is it. Starting next wednesday. Everybody who wants to get in vote on which game we are going to play.

Well...

Too late, Glock. He admitted last night that he sold his Wolfenstein. What's up with Havok and selling games? I can't imagine that he'd need the money. Personally, I hang onto most of my games, even if I don't play them. You never know when you want to replay a game or lend it to a friend ... or other uses:

- The DOA Volleyball disc makes a great coaster
- Me and Homer (my dog) can play fetch with my Smashing Drive disc
Both which are more useful than actually playing those games.

Boy, I sure had some problems last night on BO3. I was having a hard time trying to connect to friend's games and could send or receive invites or mail at certain times. Is it always this hard trying to get into games on BO3?

Glockstar
10-16-2004, 10:29 AM
LOL. Running down DOA-X again, eh Darwin?
I think you've slammed that game this year, more than you did last year. :p

-

I dunno why he'd get rid of Wolfenstein... ...
...but I can understand getting rid of some games - even when it's not for the money.

Sometimes, you do it in an attempt to restore your sanity. Too many games sitting on your shelves, staring you in the face, can put undo pressure on you and confuse you on what you want to play and what you need to play. (That's why I got rid of Midtown Madness 3. The sp part was frustrating; and while the online part was fun, I'd still rather play something else.) So, maybe you trade a game in while you can still get something for it - or maybe you just trade it in so that you're not tempted to waste your time on it anymore. (?)

On the other side of the coin: I am keeping MotoGP 1 and PGR 1 - and a few other oldies - even tho' I know I'm never going to play them again. Like you kinda said, they're there more for friends - and newly assimilated Xbots - than they are for me anymore. Plus, they're worth more in memories, than they are in store-credit.

-

I'm gathering up a pile of games that I mean to trade in right now. But every single one of them is single-player only. Now these types of games - it's easy to understand why someone would trade them in, yes?

My only problem, is that I've been so focused on finishing these games - and for some of them, it's finishing them one last time, for old-times sake - just so I can get them out of here and move on to my online games. Which is totally backwards! I know, I'm an idiot!

It's the online games that have the "short shelf-life", not the sp games. I continue to go about it this way, and by the time I'm ready to play my online games, nobody else will. Everybody will have moved on to the next new game(s). Single-player games don't have an expiration date.

-

So... anybody gonna be on today? Darwin?
I'm game!

Hey guys, i'll be online today for most of the afternoon. The ladies went haloween costume shopping so i'm finally FREEEEEE!

Anyway, last night, I don't know what's up with BO3 Darwin, after I sent you that initial game invite, I could not send you any more, it was strange. This game is so problematic online. Then, I think that got booted me outta the room once I finally joined. I started another room, couldn't invite you, I think u got me blocked, lol.

Anyway, yeah, I sell back games cause I never keep games for nostalgia or as collectors items, so if I'm not gonna play it any more and I can get $20 for it, its gone.

I'm not gonna sell back BO3 though, even with all the problems the game is a lot of fun when you can get some guys to play. If you guys wanna play Wolfenstein, go ahead, just send me an invite to whatever after you guys finish with that game.

Well, if we can get SweetJimmy, Darwin, Glock and myself all together today, maybe we can play some SC:PT for a few hours.

I'll be online, you can find me playing Battlefront, just send me an invite and i'll hop over to whatever.

Glockstar

After these 1 o'clock games (couple of great games going on right now: UM vs Illinois and Pitt vs BC) I'll be playing an online enabled game - either on or offline - so just so send an invite to whatever, whenever.

I can bet that most of the Live gamers on this site are gonna be getting Halo 2. This aught to be a great game to play together on Wed nights .. perhaps forming a VGR clan (as Halo 2 will have clan support). However, most of us will probably want to play through the single player campaign first, so we probably won't be doing too much multiplayer for the first week or two. UNLESS ... and I really hope ... there is coop play through Live, and if so, I will be beyond escatic.

I'll probably be getting on Live within the next couple of weeks. I just need to find some time to figure out how I can get connected through my PC.

Games that I would be interested in playing would be Burnout 3, NBA 2k5, NFL 2k5, ToCA, and of course Halo 2 when it is released.

I've found a way to go wireless WITH WPA, but the bridge isn't all that cheap. So I'm waiting for a price drop, or Halo 2..whichever comes first.

It's a shame really, I've been looking forward to playing with and against some people on this forum for quite some time, not to mention playing against some of my friends without having that annoying split screen....or having to go through all the trouble of getting 4 or more people together in the same place at the same time....

For some reason this weekend I was having a hell of a time with Xbox live. I've been getting the Xbox live is not responding message at the dashboard. I got it again this morning Is anybody else having this problem?

So I guess wednesday it's going to be burnout 3. The friends list in this game is kind of Wonky So I'm thinking about Just starting a private room (VGR) and and pass code WCG  ! But I'll try and invite you all through the friends list. Jimmy are the small x's apart of your Gamertag? I'll send you an Friends request tonight.

9:00 pm would be a good time for me. Then maybe we could switch over to SC PT I'll host (BO3) if Tappy doesn't come along I'm in the process of unlocking more tracks. So who's down? roll call.

As for Halo 2 from what I've read you will only be able to Join one Clan there are a 100 members per clan though. As long as it's all about the fun I'm not really into competitions or anything.

Well DTM i'm down, just waitin for y'all to get your arses in gear, lol.

Far as BO3, yes, I think a private room is the way to go, otherwise it is too hard to keep people out of the room. Far as hosting, it doesn't matter from a connection speed perspective, since everyone connects through EA. But it does matter from an unlocked perspective. I would guess that Tappy has the most unlocked, followed by myself. But, DTM, if you have been playing the game religously, you may have eclipsed me. I'll check and post how much I have unlocked. I know I have the super cars unlocked and a few Asia tracks, but I haven't unlocked the 'special' cars.

Far as Yacob and people trying to connect through the PC. Could you guys please explain your setup, what equipment you have etc. Maybe there is an easier way to try and get connected than what you are attempting.

Anyway, I may be on this evening, or I may just play some LEGENDS.

Oh, and DTM, negative on the LIVE connection issues. I haven't had a problem all weekend. Are you completely locked out or is it just sporadic, and how are you connecting to your Broadband service?

This is how you connect through your PC: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/live/connect/windowsics.htm

However, I would recommend using a direct connection or router, as they are more reliable and cause less lag issues.

I think a VGR clan is an excellent idea. However, Halo 2 may not allow you to join more than one clan. We'll have to wait and see. The only other Live game that has built-in Clan support is Rainbow Six : Black Arrow, and only allows you to be a member of one clan at a time.

The forums over at Xbox.com have numerous postings about Live being down this last weekend, perhaps for some scheduled maintenance.

Interesting theory posed by one poster: Is this in relationship to the leaked Halo 2 copy ... i.e. is this some type of security update or an attmept to track the leakes Halo 2 games (if those fools are stupid enough to log onto Live with their stolen copies). Just a theory.

Well DTM my condolences on your family situation, hope things get better and we will see you when you get back.

I haven't seen anyone from VGR online in the last few days, so it looks like VGR gamers night just isn't going to happen soon.

But, i'll be online today playing Battlefront, if anyone can come on and you guys want to play some SC:PT or BO3, just send an invite.

Oh so you guys must have been in a private room? I was trying to join your room, it said I could join, but I could never get in.

Next time your on send me an invite, I can show you some of the ropes to being a spy. I am not the greatest spy, but I can hold my own. Believe me though, the spies can be way more powerful than the Mercs. There are a lot of little tricks, you basically have to have someone show you, or just play and learn through experience.

I may be online this afternoon, about 4pm through 6pm, i'll be in Battlefront, but if you come online, just send me a SCPT invite. Peace!
