I have made the pc game review my main linked page (as suggested)
http://www.videogamereview.com/pccrx.aspx
The dimension of viewable area is dim and even if you will center it it will like as a lousy work.
Having 11 sites collapse in one may be a good cutting expenses work but the "so we have only one interface" seems a weak excuse to have a poor product.
Let examine how it appears to be that page on a 1024X768 screen.
From top:
1st row) Search, regitered user login and main homepage link.
The search seems a global search and is not so bad.
2nd row) main links
It seems a pretty standard row
2.5 row) Banner
It appears only when you hit reload, sized as row 1 + row 2
3rd row) Page title/descriptor
It may be useful to describe navigation position but...
4th row) Pc gaming block header with links and title + Image
The beginning of useful specific informations that one may be in need.
5th row) PC Gaming Hot Deals
It's 1/3 of the page in height and when banner in row 2.5 is visible it's exactly the last bit of info you can see.
6th row) PC Game Reviews block
Note without banner in row 2.5 you can see the search field cutted in half.
7th row) Comunity
Extra comunity useful navigation stuff
If you use the Page down button you can have the review block as 1st block and start various searches.
But the quick alphabetical sort is only for game publisher. I agree that this is an interesting sort but you are forcing to remember/know the genre or publisher of a game or be forced to use the keyboard to start a search.
I have the wrong resolution on my monitor?
I must switch to 1280X1024 only to have my specific search needs in the first screen? (it's very nice to have near half of the screen empty...)
The usability of you site is weak (to be kind).
Other notes.
Other side effects of limiting the width is that the review are less readable. The votes of a single review is too big and the review text suffer even more.
In sorted products the "SHOP NOW" button needed to be put below the text area (same width problem?) so each product needs more screen space.
It can be useful if you want to avoid to not missclick the shop button but the list becomes a lot longer.
You wanted to not overload a "customer" with too much text?
If i want a list of games sorted for genre i do not want to scoll 5 times with page down to read the first page!!!
The user friendly of this site is going into negatives.
If someone thought that it would have been more easy to navigate force him to do so for a while.
If you want to have this nerve hitting thing as a default please make it possible to have an expert view with more info than kinky stuff.
