You will get so many different answers to this, and it all depends on a person's opinion. In my opinion, the Xbox has many great games.

As far as RPG's, Xbox has two excellent games: Morrowind and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Other than that, there aren't any other RPGs on Xbox that I would recommend, and the Xbox does not have that many RPGs.

Top 5 games is a matter of opinion, and depends heavily upon a person's interests as well as whether or not they game online. Here are my top 5 games (keep in mind that I am heavily into racing games and I also have Xbox Live):

1) Morrowind - my personal favorite game of all time (single player)
2) MotoGP2 (single and online play)
3) Halo (single player, cooperative play, no online play)
4) Rainbow Six 3 (single and online play)
5) Toca 2 - Pro Race Driver 2 (single and online play)

I have played MotoGP 2, Rainbow Six 3, and Toca 2 online for many, many hours. If you don't have Live, those games are not going to have as much value.

Tell us what types of games you are interested in and what you have played in the last few years.

i recommend fable, though not everyone seems to like it. I think it's a fun game.

also there are two highly-anticipated upcomming RPGs that should be out by christmas or perhaps a little after: Jade Empire and Knights of the Old Republic 2.

Hi FB. I recognize you from the PC Forums!

So you're really thinking of getting an XBox?
Well, one of the first things you're going to realize - if you don't already know - is that there are a lot of shared titles between the PC and the XB. In fact, a number of the XBox's best, like: Halo, Morrowind, KOTOR, and even MotoGP2 (tho' I have know idea how that works) are available on PC.

However there are still a ton of XBox true-exclusives that are GREAT, imo. There's a reason it's my favorite system, you know?!? And, of course, there's the undeniable fact that most multi-plats are better on the XBox. (Even if it's simply because you do not need a memory card. Or simply because of the controller - which happens to be the best. ;) )

But anyways, of the true-exclusives, I'd say the Top 5 are...
1) Crimson Skies: High Road To Revenge
2) Ninja Gaiden
3) Fable
4) Project Gotham Racing 2
5) Panzer Dragoon Orta
... generally speaking.

But my personal "Top 5" t-e's would look a little different:
1) Oddworld: Munch's Oddyssee
2) Voodoo Vince
3) Links 2004 (definitely not the same as the PC games)
4) IndyCar Series 2005
5) Buffy the Vampire Slayer

I could name a whole bunch of other GREAT XBox true-exclusives for you (both generally and personally speaking), but you didn't ask for me, or anyone, to ramble on and on and list half the XBox library, did you?

Well... actually, you kind of did, didn't you? I don't know how many great games there are for the XBox, really. It seems like there's a lot though. What's more, XBox Live makes this really, really hard to do. XBox Live changes everything.

Anyways, I guess we could try listing some more of those XB true-exclusives, and see where our count ends up? Oh, but before I start, the (-)listed great games are "generally speaking", while the (+)listed great games are "personally speaking", okay? Oh!... and this "list" isn't in any kind of order, alright? I'm just typing these off the top of my head, as they are sparked and ignited. (Games in orange are listed because of the greatness that is XBL.)

+ Jet Set Radio Future
- Top Spin
+ Shenmue II
- Otogi
+ Steel Battalion
- Dead Or Alive 3
+ Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow
+++ MotoGP 2
- Rainbow Six 3
+ TOCA 2
- Mechassault
+ The Chronicles of Riddick

Plus, I have to mention the following, which are some real favorites of mine, but I doubt you'll see too many others say that...
+ Sudeki
+ Furious Karting
+ Outlaw Volleyball

So what's that, like 12 more great games, added to the ten that I previously listed, plus my three other favorites (can't forget those!) = 25 great, truly-exclusive, XBox games... according to yours truly.

With regards to RPG's... the XBox library still has quite a few empty shelves. It doesn't have one Japanese-style-RPG; and it really doesn't even have that many Western-style-RPG's. It does have a few noteworthy, t-e, Action-RPG's though: Sudeki; Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel; and D&D: Heroes, namely.

All in all, there are only, like, 20 RPG's available for the XBox right now. Of course, no one buys a vg system for just the games that are available "right now", right? Well, there are three huge-type RPG's a'coming, and a'coming soon... KOTOR II, Jade Empire, and BC.

Have I helped any?

What do you think?

P.S. The games I put in bold are the games that I would reccomend to you personally. Though I really don't know you, or your tastes, all that well, from what I recall, I'd bet that you'd dig these bolded games. (Especially Fable!)

I'm still deciding on whether to get one, I was looking in EBX earlier at the games and wasn't too impressed, I overheard that Fable is real easy to complete (12 hours or so) unless you do all the side quests.

The RPG and platform genres are the last two really that XBOX has to round out. I'm sure you already know about KOTOR and Morrowind, those are old news. But, if you are worried the XBOX won't get a lot of good rpgs, I wouldn't worry.

If you get an XBOX now, you can play Fable, slide into Halo2, pickup KOTOR2, and then in January, BOOM you get Jade Empire. Now, this will be the real deal, and it won't be availabe anytime soon on the PC. It is the next completely new IP from Bioware, and it is shaping up to be a can't miss AAA rpg.

Fable was a letdown, IMO.
