System wars Forecast!!!

We have at least a full year from today before any next generation console is released. We have more like 2 years actually. Anyhow, The Gamecube will probably be DreamCASTED away. (This is solely based on the current vibe from websites and magazines about Nintendo). The Xbox will distance itself from the PS2 due to the PS2's hardware limitations. And out of disperation Sony will start the HYPE MACHINE on PS3 to get people to hold off from buying anymore consoles of anykind.

When MS and Sony release the next gen of consoles its anybody's guess who will lead first.

I think you underestimate the impact Nintendo could have with aggressive pricing. X-Box is the clear choice versus the PS2 but people like the comfort of the mainstream. It's like kids who must stick close to their mommies. The same syndrome.

Sega was hundreds of millions of dollars in debt when they pulled the plug on the dreamcast; Nintendo has over 7 billion dollars in cash reserves, and is selling much better than either dreamcast, and selling better than xbox. There is simply no comparison to be made.

The only vibe is that some publishers have pulled some cruddy titles that can't compete on a system with so much AAA first and second party titles. But derivative schlock sells on the xbox as long as the cover-art looks really cool and "mature" so publishers keep pumping out the dreck for that system.

And you do know MS is highly influential in American medai, even have their own news company, and they also issue press releases which do get picked up. They are fanning this "nintendo in trouble story" and the lazy American media just repeats the story. But its just a distraction from the fact that xbox is the biggest money losing console in the history of games and that is running dead last BEHIND nintendo.

I don't want the Gamecube to go. Yet if Nintendo continues to get bad press even if its not credible, people will shy away from it inspite of any price drops. The nintendo blurb in my original post was just an afterthought. My main point was that PS3 is a long time away and the PS2 library will continue to look less stellar while everyone else's looks better.

Whenever I see a sales chart, what surprises me is that a rookie console (Xbox) is hanging with, and sometimes outdoing the veteran (Nintendo Gamecube) of these system wars, but when I see the game selection for each, I can see why the rookie is hanging in there with the veteran. It looks bad on Nintendo's part, considering how much experience they have in the biz.
