Ok, I put in good old Final Fantasy 7 into my 2 year old PC a few days ago (read: this computer should be able to run this game with one metaphorical hand tied behind its back), and for some reason it's crashing at a specific point: the chocobo races. The game's running smoothly, then as soon as it goes into the chocobo race in the golden saucer, it goes into a black screen that forces me to restart the entire computer.
If memory serves, the chocobo races were one of FF7's mini-games that changed into a new 3D environment, so I'm assuming that this is the cause of it all. There don't seem to be patches anywhere for this game (since perhaps its just a cheesy console port). I tried changing the graphics settings to the software renderer, but that didn't do a thing. And my graphics drivers are up to date. I hope I can go forward, because I've already invested 15 hours into it and was looking forward to playing through this game again. Any ideas what's wrong? Thanks a bunch.
