Hey guys, I'm a little annoyed with a problem that keeps happening, everytime I play Doom 3, somewhere along the way, my computer just shuts down suddenly, my keyboard goes, my mouse goes and my moniter goes, and so does my computer, but for some reason or another the green light that says the PC is on, stays on and I have to shut that off myself.

I know it's not because my system can't handle Doom 3 because it can, and when it happens, it usually happens when I'm just walking around, or like the last time, listening to an audio take from one of the civilian workers. I really have no idea why it happens, maybe theres a setting in my video card options that needs to be changed, nevertheless, I want it fixed soon, so if anyone has any ideas.......

Do this to help us help you:

What video card are you running? What operating system are you using? What are the driver version you are using for your video card and sound card? Any info you give will help someone help you. Do you have the latest direct x loaded? Do you have any virus programs running in the background?

Well, I got a ATI 9800 Pro 128MB, I'm using XP Home edition, and when it kept shutting down I WAS using the Catalyts 4.6's, my sound card is on my MOBO and my MOBO is Asus Nvidia Nforce 2 ultra. I installed Direct X, and yes I do have a antivirus loaded all the time, PC-Cillin, and I just switched my video card driver to the new Omegas (2.5.58)

I would try disabling the anti virus as well when gaming. Alot of them interfere with gaming and eat up valuable resources needed for gaming. I am using the same card and although I have some minor issues it works flawlessly. Same Drivers as well....some other program might be interfering. Make sure nothing else in the background is running needlessly.

Try re-installing your graphic card drivers as well.

It looks like the problem is solved as my sound card which is onboard, needed to have its drivers updated.

I installed the game and had no problems there. The problem is when I go to play the game; the title screen comes up, I click PLAY and then it goes to load game but the game never comes up. It also does this for Generals. I have tried things here and there but no one has been able to help me.

I also have a question on installing a game so that I do not have to use CD to play it. If anyone has an answer please let me know.

Goto www.gamecopyworld.com and download the fixed exe for Doom 3. I am using it and it works flawlessly. Just remember when patches come later you will need to use the original exe and get the updated no cd fixed exe. I keep the original .exe just changing the name to Doom.rem for example.

If not and you overwrite the exe you just have to reinstall the game if you want to update it when patches comes later.

The problem I am having now is it tells me to put CD1 into the drive when it already is.
