View Full Version : Divine Divinity Crash at a Specific Point

Greetings,

In Divine Divinity, I've got it crashing to the desktop at one specific point. I've tried restarting from my savegames with no luck. It crashes again when I hit that point.

It's after Elora took me and threw me in the dungeon, I fought my way out. I made it to the surface and the cat talked to me. As soon as the conversation is over and the cat teleports away, the game crashes.

Is this a known issue? Any ideas why it's crashing? I'd rather not download the patch if I don't have to because I'm on a lowly 56k.

I've only had this game a few days, and I must say it's been a looooong time since I've gotten this into a PC game. I'd really appreciate any help you'd all have. Thanks.

This would probably be a question better asked on the official divdiv forums. They know a helluva lot more about the game than any of us would.

I'd say that the patch is your best bet. It might take awhile to get, but it's there for a reason...mainly to fix annoying bugs like what you're going through now. I wouldn't be surprised if it fixes your problem, after all...divine divinity was a pretty buggy game when it was first released.

I'm still using a primitive 56K modem. That's never stopped me. I download stuff while I'm eating dinner, or if it's just too big, I'll download something before I go to bed at night and it's there in the morning. You should see all the stuff I've downloaded for Morrowind in the last month. I always patch a game right after I install it. If I know I'm going to buy a particular game, I'll download the patch the day before I buy it so that I can patch it as soon as I install. That's the way real men do it - these broadband pansies are just too soft! ;)

You may want to replace your World.xx files in your save game with the World.xx files in the System folder... this helped me out greatly- a couple of times. As well, make sure that you're not running the NoCD crack- it will bugger your game up really well close to the end. The game was great, but buggy as hell.

As the others have said, get the patch, even if you have narrowband. You can always download it during your sleep if you don't want to wait.

I took everyone's advice and went for the patch, and it worked! Thanks all.

I really need to get out of the modem realm. I started the download and went to run a few errands. Too much.
