All of the laughing. All of the poking fun. All of the jealous "Grand Theft Auto SUXORS!" comments. And now, GTA is coming to Xbox in a two-pack and suddenly, it's a great game.
"Wow, it has slightly improved lighting! And it's a little more high-res! And maybe if we get lucky, the game will have custom soundtracks!" Gee....PS2 gamers have been playing these games for years now. So you are getting some sloppy seconds and now all the sudden, this game is "da bomb?"
Core gameplay in the GTA series is what all you Xbots talked crap about. Core gameplay in the Xbox versions has not changed. You prove what ludicrous, hypocritical, morose little graphics whores you are. "Wow-a shinier bumper than the PS2 version had! Xbox rUlZ!!!!" Give me a break.
It must be nice to finally be getting a decent game. I mean, Microsoft only expects you to wait 3-6 months between "good" titles.
And given that Rockstar supposedly had an exclusive deal with Sony, one must wonder what Microsoft is paying out of pocket to get these ports?

i guess you can say the same about RE going to GC huh....
i'll prolly get it. i couldnt stand the graphics/detailing on PS2 and it seems to have been cleaned up some. now i can actually look at it without getting a headache...so the enhancements is what will actually get me to play it for once...and its on ps2 too or just xbox (the pack)?

I like GTA3 and Vice City. I own GTA3 for PC but not VC so I might get that XBOX pack. Only thing bad about the PS2 version is the graphics, more so on vice city than GTA3. Also sniping with that analog controller is pretty rough.
XBOX doesn't really need to rely on GTA ports this holiday, it has a pretty decent line up. I'll probably be getting Ninja Gaidan, Crash Team Racing, Ninja Turtles(LOL, really), Crimson Skies, and XIII. Maybe a couple more, maybe.

Darwin, you must remember that Geezer has a frail mind. He also suffers from egomanicalnarcicistic rage.
I just think it's funny that the PS2s best selling series(basically what has been driving the PS2 in the US) is now on its way to Xbox. Sure they might not be brand new games but that's like Halo and KOTOR going to PS2 if you think about it.

Grand Theft Auto being on the PC hasn't hurt PS2 sales one bit. What will year & two-year old ports of PS2 games that are now $20 bucks do for Xbox? Whoop-de-do for you.
But it's funny you should mention "best sellers" coming to other systems. Both Halo and Knights of the Old Republic are coming to PC this year. That in my mind is F'n hilarious!
90% of the games on Xbox are PC-ports or PS2 leftovers. Another 5% is wanna-be-as-good-as-PS2-&-Gamecube games like Voodoo Vince and Blinx.
Another thing that is funny is that there is a whopping one exclusive Xbox title with 90% or higher-that being Panzer Dragoon Orta with a 90.4%...a game that nobody bought! And how does it feel to have your old buddy Microsoft cram it up your ass by releasing Halo on the PC with enough improvements that it could be considered a whole-new game? And the fact that nearly two years later, and Microsoft is still charging $50 for Halo on Xbox! What a rip-off!

MS should end all Japanese support because face it, all japanese games cusk.
and where do you get off saying both GTAs for PS2 are 20$ a piece? Show me some documentation or STFU.

All Japanese games cusk? What does "cusk" mean? Never heard that one before...
Grand Theft Auto III has been in the Greatest Hits line for $20 for some time. Vice City goes to $20 in the beginning-mid October as part of the Greatest Hits line. Late October, the two-pack goes on sale for PS2. Xbox gets a port of a PS2 port a few weeks later! Talk about a *****-slap! SLAP! right across MS's face!
And I still gotta wonder, how many MILLIONS is MS paying Rockstar to port these games to Xbox? :D

What's your point, Joah? GTA was only the catalyst for the kids action, not the cause. If it wasn't GTA then it would've been some action flick, some book, some other videogame, the Bible, the Quran, Barney the Dinosaur, the menu at Denny's, heavy metal music, comic books, Dungeons & Dragons...
Hell, lets just put the blame where the blame is due: On the dumbass kids that did it. Makes alot more sense to do that instead of looking for answers to the unanswerable.

Heh... I think things that are a tad bit easier than some of the things you've mentioned are more believable than others... Take violent TV shows, movies, and video games. It's been a rising phenomonem ever since, and I believe it'll only get worse...

I'll tell you exactly what it is that causes all the idiot kids to go on a shooting spree: Media attention.
Let's take Columbine for example. You have 2 kids starved for attention, probably picked on quite a bit at school and more than likely not too bright. They want revenge..and they want to do it in the worst way possible to leave a lasting impresson, so they go on a killing spree.
What happened afterwords? The news sensationalized it. You had constant interviews with the victims, documentaries about the kids lives, supposed experts analizing and reanalzing the situation..you couldn't turn the TV on at the time without hearing something about it.
So you take some other kids elsewhere in the country that live similar lives and are in the same situation. They see all this and think to themselves "wow, thats a good way to get my 15 minutes of fame! I think I'll copy them and go shoot up MY school, everyone will remember me then"...and the cycle repeats.
But in the end we can ban the GTA's and violent films of the world and maybe feel some peace of mind afterwords...but when it happens again what else do we blame?

Who in the hell has been saying that GTA is so great anyway? Where do you get this crap. I think that you truly have entire conversations with yourself because I don't think that anyone is all that stoked about GTA coming to the Xbox. I think that the point is that the real battle is between Xbox and GC, so logically speaking, it is smart for MS to get a big seller that the GC does not have. It is the same situation with Twin Snakes for GC. Are you going to condemn Nintendo for getting that title?

Who CARES how much MS is paying Rockstar? They're bringing a money maker to Xbox and that's what they want. A potential system seller. Doesn't matter that the games have been out for a while. They were out for a while when they came to PC and they sold well. They will sell well on Xbox too. I'll buy the set for Xbox even though I had them both for my PS2. I never finished VC. When I heard it was coming to Xbox I traded it in. MS knows a "proven" winner when it sees one.
You are no judge of "good" games for Xbox if you say it's 3 to 6 months between good titles. Sometimes the more people try to make a point, or make others look bad, or try to throw it back in the faces, the more they themselves become the target of their own ramblings

And yet it took Rockstar forever to make GTA 3 a Greatest hit. It's not like GTA was $20 two months after its release, and from a marketing standpoint, I can easily see why successful games don't drop in price for a considerable amount of time. Another "wow, they're still charging $X" is FFX, which also just recently became a greatest hit. And I wonder why Mario Sunshine is still $50, or that GCN's Player's Choice titles are $30 versus the competitors' $20 price tag.
It seems that you're a little too quick to bash M$ and its brawny black box. Is there a decent reason? Sure, Xbox is sucking in terms of sales, but in terms of hardware, it's a pretty decent piece of equipment. I don't know why you even try and waste your time on fanboys, since it's a given fact that their incessant whining, bashing, and general rudeness is something that can't be shoved into oblivion. Hopefully you understand that your ceaseless whining about them is not much better.
Perhaps you should spend more time actually enjoying your games rather than worrying so much about what people think. The fact that you're constantly attempting to set fire to flame wars doesn't help your overall image, either.

True Crime:Streets of LA is gonna make everyone forget that GTA even exsisted. Comes out the same day on the Xbox. It's a pity that people are gonna eat in to that old series when there's a new bad boy on the block that's in a league of it's own.
I've heard it's around 100 times bigger than any GTA and also I've heard that you can frisk people in the streets and steal their stuff.

GTA gets boring as hell after the novelty of killing pedestrians wears off....I don't know how this title gained the accalim it has. XBox can have it as far as I'm concerned. I sold my copy of Vice City months ago.

Vice City is a classic! I dont give a damn if I get bored playing it this game deserves to be in a PS2 owners collection forever! And now that this game is coming to the Xbox better than ever I dont see any reason why this game wont sell even more copies. You throw in better graphics, cutsey little extras, and on top of a kick-ass in game soundtrack you'll be able to listen to your own music coutesy of the custom soundtrack.Hell I just may sell my PS2 version for the Xbox's version.Whether this game is on the Xbox or the PS2 its a keeper no matter what.
You dont know how this game got the acclaim it has? You need to leave that crack alone and clear your mind Shogun. This game truly is a one of a kind.Yes we have games like Hitman 2 and the upcoming True Crime but no other game has ever set the standard of gameplay like GTA:VC has.
Plus how many games gives you the chance to be a crime lord and have fun while doing it? Not many.

You should be careful; you seem to be falling victim to all the sharky marketing techniques out there today. While I know that various sources report that True Crime has impressive aspects, I'd certainly be wary in regards to the game as a whole. People touted The Getaway as the "GTA-killer", but it received rather underwhelming scores. Not bad by any means, but not excellent, either.
I'd just be careful and read some reviews about a title before rushing out to buy it, even if you've been readily anticipating it.

So cruel, and so, so... hurtful. You insensitive beast!
Actually I've never dumped on the game. I enjoyed playing it on my pal's PS2.
But there was always this niggling doubt, "Hmmmm, if only the load times didn't suck, and if only there was increased processing power so cars didn't disappear once they turned a corner, and if only the skins didn't make the characters look like Gumby in a flesh-covered prophylactic, and..."
