alien vs predator demo problem

I downloaded an alien vs predator demo from http://www.3dgamers.com and it was about 22.03 MB the problem is that after I unzipped it and double clicked its icon a thing popped up and said:

A Required .DLL file, SMACKW32.DLL was not found.

I am wondering how to fix this.


I am running windows 98 second edition with an ATI 128 mb video graphics accelerator.

by the way what is .DLL because I have seen this a lot, but don't know what it is?

Dunno if you're still having this problem, but if you're just missing one dll file you can go to DLL-Files.com and download it, then just place it in the AVP main folder. P.S. If you wanna know what a DLL file is read up here http://www.topqualityfreeware.com/whatisadll.html
