Hmm...wonder why the pros don't see it that way...maybe it's because most of them are collectively shoved so far up sony's ass they can taste what they ate yesterday...

Madden = Overrated

Pathetic...Ps2's entire online library is the grossly overrated EA and only a couple other key titles.

Ok, so lets say that Madden indeed is overrated and pro reviewers are indeed up Sony's arse. But What does overrating Madden have to do with pro reviewers being up Sony's arse?

I'm gonna have to go with Tappy (and the others) and say that I think ESPN is/will be the superior game. This is based on last year's builds of both Madden and 2k3 as well as what I played at E3 this year. I've been playing Madden 2004 at my friend's house and while it's definitely nice it's just the same ol', same ol'. I'm really looking forward to ESPN 2004 (which I will pick up tomorrow).

Still, I don't know why the pro reviewers always give Madden a higher score. I guess it just comes down to a matter of preference. I don't think you can go wrong with either, but I just enjoy Sega's game more.

Well, I bought ESPN, and I cannot imagine a better football game. The gameplay, graphics, presentation, and animations simply can't be beat imo. I have not played the new Madden, and guess what? I have no desire to. It is just like when the hoops games came out. I really had no need to look past NBA2k3. For those who were wondering I must also say that First Person Football is not a gimick. I would not dare to risk playing one of my franchise games in that mode because of the difficulty, but it is fun as hell for a diversion. It just adds to the already stellar replay value of the game.

Now Tappy---what does this have to do with Sony. I agree that reviewers have always had their heads up EA's asses, but Madden is multiplat and so is ESPN. I don't really get your point.

That's cool. You and I share the same opinion about Sony. I just don't understand how strong Madden reviews are synonomous with the PS2. The funny part about it to me is how no one will want to bring up how the GC is really the system that is getting screwed since you can't get ESPN for it. They will just say that they did not buy their Gamecubes for sports games.

I admit that I picked up Madden the second that it came out, and I did have a great time with it and NCAA this year (thank god they fixed the problems I had with it last year.). And I will admit that I wasn't looking foward to ESPN.... but after playing it wow.... :eek: Sega did a fantastic job this year, the First Person Football is refreshing and fun, the mini games are very cool and the presentation is top notch. Don't get me wrong Madden is still a great title, but ESPN makes me very excited to play the game, and that is what counts... this might be the first year I actually buy both! :D Now I can't wait to see the rest of the ESPN line up this year!

GC owners are screwed through and through. Nothing to play but proprietary shallow games and NOTHING to play online.
