While looking at the games at my local Fred Meyer store, I saw Metroid Prime for 20 bucks. And it was new. But Metroid Fusion is still 30 bucks! I don't know when the price change for MP happened, but I think they should at least lower the Metroid Fusion price!

It reminds me of a time when a new N64 game was 60 bucks...

Why is it that a disk (over time) will cost less than a cartridge? The disk has better graphics and sound than a cartridge! It happened with the Playstation and N64! Is it happening now?

Well I've never been to this Fred Meyer store you speak of. But I've seen Metroid Prime with a wavebird controller for 40 bucks. I kid you not. If you don't have Metroid Prime already you really owe it too yourself to buy it now.

This could have possibly been Donkey Kong 64 because it came with an upgraded card of RAM for the N64 hardware.

I guess you've got a point that a Gamecube disc (or 2) can't possibly cost more than a quarter to produce. Plus once a game like Metroid Prime sells well over a million copies Retro Studios has already made out like a bandit. What's even better is when a company like Silicon Knights or Capcom sells brand new releases for 40 bucks like Metal Gear Solid and Viewtiful Joe.

Well, Fred Meyer must only in the Northwest then, cause I live in oregon and there everywhere, just like the trees! :)

Nintendo must be making a great profit!

I purchased Metroid Prime yesterday. Not bad, Not bad at all! :) The gameplay is great and so are the graphics. The controls could be better and I don't like switching back and forth from scanning mode to combat mode. But other than that its a good game!

You'll get the hang of visor switching soon enough. Metroid Prime just gets better and better the longer you play it! Just wait until you get the wave beam! And the Phazon mines are probably the best part of the game!

It's my personal favorite game on the Cube! I've already played through it twice, and I'll go through it one more time before Metroid Prime Echoes comes out!

I'm in the Mines right now (I know I'm kinda slow but I gotta get used to it.) The War Wasps really tick me off, but I'll kill them all!!!! It's a great game, could easily match Halo! Could be better than Halo! I might have to change my signature!

The Phazon Mines aren't until much later in the game. Right now you're probably in the Chozo Ruins. I like to read all the scans just to pick up on the story line. If you just want to run through the game blasting everything that moves though, you can without having to read any of the scan data.

The War Wasps tick me off too sometimes! But pretty soon you'll be powerful enough to just blow them away without thinking twice!

:)

I think Metroid Prime is better than Halo but my opinion is kind of biased. This is the Gamecube forum after all! And I'm one of the biggest Nintendo fanatics around these parts!

:D

Oops! I tend to get things mixed up alot in video games. (In Halo, I would call "The Flood", "The Cloud" for some strange, scary reason!)

So what do you think of Metroid Prime now Wario? I still can't believe that there are Gamecube owners out there who don't have Metroid Prime?!?!

Everyone must go buy this game NOW! Come on, it's 20 bucks! What are you waiting for? You spent that much money to fill up your car with gas last week!!!

It's well worth the money! It's 18 bucks in some places, so you save 2 dollars!

What are you waiting for? You spent that much money to fill up your car with gas last week!!!

Now you can use that two bucks you saved to buy about half a tank of gas! OH BOY!!!!

Yep...and for the same reasons too.

Carts store information using RAM...which is a really, really expensive storage medium per megabyte than CD. Even though most carts store quite a bit less than a CD or DVD, pretty much every GBA game made nowadays will require enough storage to make the game price sticky. This doesn't include other things such as battery-saves or flash memory either. Because the game medium itself may cost a few bucks to produce, there is less incentive to lower the price since those dollars will always have to be recovered. Compare this to CDs where printing one only costs a few cents. Less overhead=a lower price

(It's interesting to note that in theory, the N'64 or any other cart-based system could play games as large or larger than PSX games.... however the amount of money it would cost to provide a CD's worth of memory would make a game insanely expensive. The closest anyone came to that was NeoGeo, with massively large game carts that could cost hundreds of dollars)

Hey Wario! I've decided to play through Metroid Prime one more time before the sequel is released. I've played through it once on normal mode and once on hard mode already. But then guess what?!?!

My memory card data got erased! There were actually 2 empty game files on 2 of my memory cards. I still refuse to take the blame for this one though (I'm placing it on my girlfriend ;)).

So I have to start over from the beginning again.

:(

Anyways this is the best gaming experience you can get from the Gamecube IMO. This game is simply the best!

Jeez, thats too bad. Good thing you love Metroid Prime, so I bet it doesn't matter to you anyway...
Is hard mode unlocked after you beat normal mode?

Yea, after you beat the game completely, you'll unlock hard mode.

If you finish the game with a 100% on the game file, you get to see Samus Aran with her helmet off. I was going to do just that until I found out I have to start over at 0% because my other games were deleted.

But just like you're saying since this game is so great, I'll probably end up beating the game 2 more times anyway!

Although I haven't seen how hot Samus Aran looks in Metroid Prime yet, I've heard she's less revealing than this paparazzi photo taken of Samus on the NES:
