I just found out today that gamecube had a Modem and Broadband adapter! When did this happen? Did it just pop out of thin air? Where's the online games anyway!

You can use if for Phantasy Star Online. That's it. That's the only online game for the 'Cube. Also, you can do system link with the broadband adapter with Mario Kart and Kirby's Air Ride.

Oh yeah, and there's also the warp pipe project: www.warppipe.com
which is a user-designed solution to allow you to play those LAN based games like Mario Kart online.

I wouldn't bother buying one unless you are going to play the games Gadfly mentioned though. It's doubtful that any more online games will be released in the near future.

There's one more game you can use online. When PSO was mentioned, they probably ment episode 1 aand 2, but there is a third.

I found PSO3 a letdown. I was expecting it to be just like the first two in the series but it turned card based. Don't get me wrong, I like card based games, but PSO3 didn't give me the whole "I can play this game for hours on end" feel like the previous ones did.
Back on topic. PSO games are so far the only games for gamecube that can be adapted to online. Kind of disappointing really.

Some of the 1st party Nintendo games would no doubt be online success stories. SSBM and Mario Kart have sold millions of copies, and would definately have a respectable online community.
Nintendo should be going online with the Gamecube's replacement.
