Hey all.

Do any of you guys ever remember playing DooM? I used to play it when I was little but in mid-2002 I remembered it and set out on a quest of finding any sites dedicated to it. To my astonishment a program called 'ZDaemon' existed, it was basically a port of doom2.exe with lots of neat features added-on. I downloaded it, played, got owned and played some more. Two years on I'm now an Administrator and Techy for the ZDaemon team, not quite what I was expecting 2 years ago when I done that search.

Anyway, I'm basically telling you all about us and what we've done to revive DooM these past few years.

New ZDaemon Features:
-Exceeded the 4 player limit. Our servers now handle up to 16 players.

-Added Teamplay support

-Added CTF Support

-Choice of resolution, 320x200 to 2048x1536

-Mod support and mapping opportunities

There's a lot more but it's better to experience it for yourself.
Enough of the rambling, bring on the download! Go to www.ZDaemon.org and download the latest version, which can also be found here (http://zdaemon.org/download/zdaemon106-setup.exe). Once downloaded, join a server by running zlauncher.exe and the neccasary game files will be downloaded for you.

As with many other gaming communites, we too have clans. There's about ten clans at the moment, I say about because some clans are getting created and others are pulling the plug regularly. For instance, my clan is named LG (www.limpgimps.co.uk), we're a 4 piece british clan.

For those of you who'd like a guide on this, there's a guide on the homepage that shows pretty much every you'd want to know from DM Training to using the programs. Guide is here (http://zdaemon.webhop.org/starterguide).

Of course the graphics suck ass, everyone knows that but I can tell you with my hand on my heart it is the most addictive game I've ever come across in my life. The gameplay is the fastest out there for a FPS as it doesn't go for realism, we once got 40 frags in 50 seconds, it's just mad.

I hope you all give it a shot :)

Looks good, actually. Though it seems a bit blurry...

Yup, doom was released 10 years ago and they're making a DooM 3. Can't wait for that :)

I personally prefer this TC of Doom- Doom: Absolution. It rocks. I would like to see more maps made with this engine personally- it's a tad bit more updated than the Doom II engine, but the fog tables and new models rock!

You forgot to mention that it's a remake of Doom 64, which was by and far the greatest of all the Doom iterations.

No, I mentioned it was a total conversion of Absolution- didn't I? Anyway- Doom 64 used a modified DII engine. Hey- did you get my link? That's something- eh?! ;)

lol, that link? I got a glimpse of it and knew it was something I didn't wanna look at first thing in the morning, so I closed it.
