If you can't see the difference, well-then you are a moron.

Those graphics suck compared to Halo 2. Actually, those graphics suck in general.

I see the difference - obviously, Ivy got larger breast implants, bless her.

SC II looks quite nice in motion....

Not much difference between the 3 console versions though....

People who post still pics don't get it....you CANT judge current tech games by some crap like that. Ignorance will run wild on this topic because so many people slighted the DC.

This just proves that 99% of you are a bunch of full on, balls to the wall graphics whores.

Seriously, if DOA3 played like total ass would you still like it as much? If Halo didn't look all that great and came out for the PS2 would you all still think it was awesome? Deny it all you want, I'm sure I know the answer...

It is quite obvious to me that SC2 has better graphics from the beginning. I don't know why some people commented that SC has the better graphics. That's a mystery to me.

You said to me not once, but TWICE that Soul Calibur II doesn't look as good as Soul Calibur on Dreamcast. Did you not? Now you are backpedaling? Answer me: Can you NOT see the difference in number of polygons, shading, facial features and background design, etc. making Soul Calibur II look MUCH better? Just answer the question! Tell me! Can you still look at those two pics and say that the original is better looking or even as good as SCII? And don't give me that crap that "you need to see it in motion" because SCII runs at a smooth 60fps in every version! And here's a few more "in game" pics to compare!

Original Dreamcast Soul Calibur pic:

Notice the much improved polygon models, lighting, particle effects and level detail in the SCII pic. Now tell me again Tappy, did you say the original looked better?

YES, of COURSE the SC2 looks better than SC on the Dreamcast. But you have to admit that the girls looked much more beautiful in the Dreamcast version. As I said somewhere else here, they look like zombies in the new version. They have better bodies in part 2, but on the DC, they had better looking faces.

I agree with Geezer on this one, although it IS hard to tell how good a game looks by a simple picture, especially on my moniter, it still looks great just by those pics and the commercials, my friends were saying that it looks better then DOA3, Xbox version anyway, and a game has to have pretty good graphics to compare to DOA 3.

First Whaxx, if you want to go simplly by polygon-crunching, anti-aliasing, multi-tiered, largest-breasts graphics, than Soul Calibur II doesn't look quite as good as Dead Or Alive 3. Dead Or Alive 3 is the pinnacle of graphic effects for fighters.

But what Soul Calibur II has over DOA3 is great design aesthetics. The fantasy worlds in SCII are awesome. Much to the dismay of Xbots who cannot cope with a multiplatform title being the #1 fighter on Xbox, SCII overall looks better than Dead Or Alive 3 IMO. The characters are all varied and very interesting. Each has his/her own fighting style.

You won't get into the real "meat & potatoes" of the game until you begin playing through Weapon Master Mode. Here, you unlock over 10 new gameplay modes, 7 hidden characters, numerous hidden arenas, literally hundreds of weapons and a 3rd costume for many of the characters. Sophitia, Seung Mina, Cervantes and Yoshimitsu are the four main hidden characters with 3 others available in multiplayer games.

Just as in most fighting games, button-mashers can do well, but experienced players can hand button-mashers their ass by doing a guard impact which stuns your foe for a few seconds and then perform a special move on them. My favorite is simple: I use Yoshimitsu to perform a guard impact and while a big bruiser like Astaroth or Nightmare is stunned, I perform a flying kick sending them clear out of the arena. Boy, that one pisses people off!

The game is as challenging as you make it. If you want to button-mash, you can and do well. If you want to learn how to play efficiently with the characters (which WEapon Master Mode will force you to learn) you can do that as well.

As with anyone fence sitting on the issue, I would say go rent the game first and try it out. That way you know you won't get burned for $50 if this game turns out to not be to your liking. Me personally? I bought all three versions so I can play through all the modes with Link, Heihachi and Spawn.

BTW...the one version I didn't intend to buy-the Gamecube version-turned out to be my favorite among the three. Fastest load times and quite surprisingly-the best controller setup for learning the game.

I must admit; I've only played the demo of SCII. I found the DC's version to have better gameplay or control. It just flows better. The graphics on SCII are better and no one with eyes can say different. The first one does have a smoother look ( apperent even in the stills above) yet lacks many polygons in comparison to the sequel. I brought the demo over to some friends of mine and they weren't that impressed overall. My friends and I all owned DCs but none of us play them regularly or have shrines of them in our homes. Oh we were comparing the DC version to the Xbox version.

Well it sounds like this game has the whole package. One of the things that pissed me off about DOA 3 most was the shallow gameplay, and the fact that it has barely nothing or noone to unlock. So I will shortly be picking up an Xbox version of Soul Calibur ll.

I'm just going to come out and say that despite all it's eye catching effects that DOA3 is, on a purely technical level, slightly below SC2.

What DOA does right is to throw stuff in your face, you just can't miss the effects, and very pretty they are too. Along with vibrant color almost ankin to Daytona.

SC2 is just better in execution, primarily because it uses a proper skeletal animation system which removes the jumps from the transitions (and the DC SC was guilty here too) and because the detail is just so fine. Dust swirls in the wind, hair dosn't look like flax strands, the weapons gleam and layers upon layers or scenery surround the tiny pedistals that pass for arenas (as opposed to DOA where there's a very noticable 'obliteration point' in all the stages. let alone the DC version which used paralaxing 2D wraparounds)

Now, if they'd just get rid of Voldo (he just ruins the whole thing with his physics defying rubbish). This could lead to another whole thing about establishing rules and sticking to them, but I'd rather not.

Finally a forum that addresses the difference in SC1 and SCII
Well, is obvious graphically speaking that SCII is better than SCI. BUT..yeah theres that butt again....
I found (did anyone else notice this) they had hmm more slimy faces, kinda pointy chins? I dont know that was weird for me. The girls as stated above DO NOT look as good at SCI, not that it matters or anything but we are talking graphics right?

So in point, the graphics ARE better, but not much difference, the game is still drops back to its roots, and i had a blast playing both games. Pick whichever SC and u got some good quick gaming fun.
