I dont no what to do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I start my comp up (win. 98) and it starts up fine until i get to the desktop.It starts to load and then the start menu appears real quick and then dissapears.if i hit Ctrl+Alt+Delete the only thing running is Nprotect!

First off..what's Nprotect. Second, try and see if you can get onto the desktop in safe mode (start hitting F8 before the windows logo screen shows up).

Nprotect is a Nortons utility program. It protects the recycle bin.

It could be that a virus or spyware has hit your computer.
Try getting into safe mode as RG suggested.

I would try booting into safe mode, then updating your antivirus definitions and running a full scan. Then download AdAware (http://www.lavasoft.de), check for updates, and run a scan with that (remove spyware it finds).

Then delete all your *.tmp files (c:\windows\temp\*.tmp) as you may have too many in there. Then get Diskeeper (http://www.executive.com) and defrag.
