They can always find ways to improve driver performance in games that use the most recent tech. Since Farcry is a DX9 game, and one of the first, it's not surprising that drivers haven't been totally optimised for it yet..they really haven't had the need to til now.
Doesn't mean they wern't able to handle em before, it just means that they were able to eek a little more out of the cards to run a bit smoother overall. I didn't have problems with either the SC:PT demos or Farcry. It's sort of the blessing a curse of the PC scene...sometimes you get a little surprise and see an already smooth game run smoother, and sometimes you need new drivers just to play.

Well anything that ATI releases as a driver is a patch for your driver if nothing else. ATI never ceases to amaze me with the poor quality of their driver software.

How is that? ATI's driver support has improved immeasurably. They're almost on par with NVidia now in that department. The fact that they're updating the drivers is not an indication of poor quality by any means.
And Glockstar, you must be new to PC gaming... :) Drivers are always free. Do yourself a favour and download the latest drivers for your sound card, motherboard, and video card. You'll likely get HUGE performance boosts if all you're using now are two year-old factory defaults.

Heh, yeah, I guess you could say that.
But thanks; I will take that under advisement.
