You guys remember my EA bad cd post a while ago, well things got real ugly earlier. I'm asking my wife to take a pic of my destroyed cd.

Literally for the 8th time now i've had a EA game CD crack for no reason what so ever, this time though it literally *Explode* inside my cd-rom, fortuntely after some minor maintainance and some of the shards removed it still works, but i'm so pissed off with EA and there real crappy cd quality, from now on, each time I pay for a EA game i'm downloading an ISO of the same game and play from that, they should definately allow legal back-ups especially if problems like this are common!

The cd problems I have are so weird and only happen with EA games that I brought from England, they develop minor cracks in the CD even without use whatsoever then go to a point they don't work at all, this time it was Sims: Unleashed CD1, it had developed a tiny crack and still worked, earlier I checked the cd for the crack, it was the same and literally during the the first 5 seconds as it spun up I heard a loud bang (my ears are still ringing from it) and opened the cd-rom to find peices fall out.

I've had 2 versions of the Sims: Unleashed that the cd's died through the same way, I've had my copy of Sims: Superstar die in *literally* 3 weeks since purchase and the store I brought it from wouldn't take it back they said contact EA support which wasn't very helpful and wanted to charge me £10 per replacement CD! Then, i've had 2 copys of Battlefield 1942 to this to me also. Basically wasted nearly $200+ on them.

Here is the pic of the cd, the crack in the superstar isnt that visible :( so I got a red marker and coloured the crack so you guys can at least see it.

You really can't blame EA for this problem. I've never heard of this before. Problems like this are NOT common. Realistically this could have happend with any compact disc (not just one from EA). The data that EA has encoded in the disc didn't cause the problem.

I don't mean to not sound sympathetic. That sucks man. You should blame the manufacturer of your PC though, not EA.

Its not the data on the cd, its the media itself thats caused the problem. Its of a very low quality, i've never had any other problems with other cds, especially ones which have much more use than some of my sims games, Final Fantasy 8 especially has seen some very heavy use and that CD is fine.

Its not my computer at all, trust me

Well, you learned your lesson. Don't get your teeth fixed in England, and don't buy your CDs from England. ;)

Yes, we see problems reported on these boards all the time..."my game freezes"..."the sound cracks"..."I get lag online"..."the game doesn't recognize my vid card"...to this list we now add (trumpets please)..."MY CD EXPLODES!". LOL!! I'm going to bed now. :)

Heh, well you know me....I try to raise the compitition to new levels, blue screen errors of death have nothing on me now, from now on, I shall be known as Official CD Exploder! Still sucks though, never had any problems with US cds......yet....:-p

Whoa man, are those your fingers? They look sorta chubby.

But I empathize even though I've never had this happen to me. Is this only a problem with EA games you got from England or does this also happen to EA games you've bought in America?

Hey Friend_Bear... I got an idea for the next finger you should be showing Deathstroke...

LOL! But seriously, I think you should be more ashamed that we all know you're an avid Sims player now! ;)

roflol guys....

I have big hands, sucks when playing on small joypads....lol As for the sims, my wife is the avid fan. Its me who has to buy them for her :P women huh? :-p

As for my CDs, i've only had problems with EA UK cds, the american ones seem perfect. Personally, i'm pretty sure its just a bad batch that EA just happened to use for production, or some junk.

Using the old "..its my wife's game!!!...really..." ("snicker") :p

Well, the good news is that your wife is a gamer! My wife just doesn't have the interest, so LAN parties are my equivalent of the traditional "Boys night out poker party".

Ahem.... yes well that would be crossing this board's strict G rating. Really Ancie, a former mod should know better. (insert smilie to show I'm joking)

Former being the operative word in that sentence... I however, am more curious as to how that second thumb got into the picture! Who's holding the camera? Now this is a MUCH more pertinent observation than simply noting the chubby hands, and digits, and much more mysterious...

Nice observation, I missed that. I was.. uh.. distracted by the glare off that cd. Shiny objects and all, you know.

Hey...Friend_Bear,
Heres a Sims Style game that you might want to play, if your wife doesn't find out.
Actiontrip has a preview of an adult sims clone called "Singles: Flirt up your life."
It looks pretty explicit from the screenshots. Use the link to see the screens and visit the side bar on the site to read the preview.

Consider this a crossover to my "sexuality in games" thread. ;)
