"Spector told us that although Deadly Shadows isn't necessarily a combat-focused game, the design team wants players to have the option of fighting their ways out of a mess if they want to."

From Gamespot's hands on preview. http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/thief3/preview_6092525.html

"A game can't be made by MIT grads, for MIT grads. The game has to be accessible."

A quote from Spector out of CGW.

Although I think that it'll turn out much better than DE:IW, doesn't this make you a little scared?

Well, seriously though, I'm such a great Thief player that I can beat my way out of most situations with ease anyways... It's really how you go about playing the game that matters most in the long run. As long as they release the SDK, I'll be a happy camper- even if the game sucks overall.

According to most of the new previews I've been reading Garrett still can't fight his way out of a wet paper bag. One guard is fairly easy to take on, but if another one joins the fray you're pretty much screwed.

Hah! The guards AI is easy to deal with. When there's too many of them, just get them chasing you in circles and don't get stuck in a corner, lol.

That's why I didn't buy DE 2 and probably won't play Thief 3.

There is ALOT of promise from Thief 3 based on what I've read and heard.

One situation being where you walk into a bar somewhere in The City and overhears a guy claiming to be Garrett and is haggling out a price for a potential client...over 200,000 lines of spoken dialog in the game just there to add to the immersion.

The new use of Moss Arrows. No longer just for sneaking over loud tile floors, you can now shoot them at a guard's face and he'll end up gagging on the moss as it goes down his throat. Great way to do silent, long distances take-outs since they can't scream for help.

The much more intelligent AI...if it ends up being even half as good as what they're claiming then we'll be in for a much more difficult experience.

The freeform City sections sound amazing. Instead of being handed a map automatically for the next mission you'll have to track down a fench or an informer to get it before you take off to rob a place.

The devs from Thief 1 are heading this project, I'm sure they know what they're doing. In fact the only thing that could potentially kill the game are the load zones...but ISA has claimed that the average level size in T3 is quite larger than what it was in DX2. Alot of promise..but we'll have to wait and see if it pans out.
