Hi,

As mentionned above i am discovering the Morrowind world but after only 4 days of gaming it happens a somewhat strange situation:

-my fighter char (lvl 25 without cheats, without training) has already his main skills maxed (100 in block, 100 in heavy armor, 85 in long blade)
-I only discover maybe less than 1% of all the storyline in this huge world LOL ! ( in the socalled main quest I am only at the 4th stage)

Therefore what is the interest in discovering all the story if my char is already (or almost) maxed ?? With a common weapon this fighter char usually 2-shoot (or even oneshoot) any mob in the field (but to be honest I certainly dont know where tough mobs are)

I intend to restart the game with a new char and maybe withs mods that can make the game more challenging. It seems tthat these 2 mods could help: Super Adventurer 3 and Giants mod. I wait your comments, especially how you keep the game fun :)

If you wanna look for some good mods Hieremias (where the hell did he go anyway?) made a great website recomming some of the best a few threads down...you should check it out.

But if you wanna keep the game challenging throughout..which was MW's biggest flaw...you really should get Super Adventurers 3. It really does add alot of difficulty and fun to the game. I'd recommend more..but the thread below already has everything I'd vouch for in it.

Heh. I find it highly doubtful that somebody could make Lvl 25 in 4 days... Especially maxing out in Heavy Armour, Block, and Long Blade... That's a LOT of fighting, and even the character I'm playing doesn't have nearly those stats, and I've been playing for literally weeks, following the path of Morag Tong... or a paid killer, so I've killed more than my share of persosn. Possibly if the difficulty slider was put down to -100, perhaps, but I somehow doubt the validity of this post otherwise.

Yeah - level 25 in four days? What, did you not sleep or something? I smell something, er, smelly. Still, the general point about Morrowind being fairly unchallenging without mods stands. I echo Renz; Super Adventurer's 3 is the one you need. Do a search for Best Morrowind mods on this forum and you'll find the Hieremias thread Renz was talking about.

I am aware now that I played Morrowind by the very wrong side. Actually I took a pure tank (redguard and warrior for the birthsign) in order to see "how it works" before to choose a char that I would like to play for a longwhile. Therefore I played with this tank char as if it was a DAOC_like game: that is if you want to go further and explore the world you have to improve your stats with long and hard fights. Concerning the difficulty slider I didnt touch it. During the first 3 days I visited many caves around Seyda neen and Balmora and made some quests and my stats were around: 50 for block, 60 for heavy armor and maybe 65 for long blade. The day after I tried something that is surely not in the spirit of the game : you just stand ahead of 3 ou 4 mobs with the shield raised without fighting for a while. At the end of the day my stats were 100 in block, 100 in heavy armor.

Like in Daoc, this game is impressive due the pure feeling of freedom, you may need weeks or months to explore all the island and you become addictive quickly but the way of leveling is very very very different. Now i will reroll a char and try to not focus on the stats and let them evolve naturally in order to enjoy the storyline.

You will enjoy the game more with the mods and turning the slider up. To blow through Morrowind is missing the fun of this game and I have to return to it soon.

Yeah, the beauty of Morrowind is the exploration and the freedom the game gives you to do as you please. Unfortunately, the latter also means that (unmodded at least) it's also very easy to powergame and spoil the experience. Anyway, sounds like you've got the idea Thunder Chicken. I envy you - you're getting to explore one of my favourite games for the first time! Make the most of it.
