Does one exist?

Considering the history of PC gaming & the countless titles, does a site exist that contains archives for older games? A site that preserves patches, mods, maps, hints, walkthroughs etc?

My concern is that with the passing of time, some PC game info will disappear.
Older, & especially obscure/unsuccessful titles are not only hard to purchase, but even harder to find info on.

Know of any sites with extensive PC game archives?

Does one exist? Hmm..philosophers have been asking these questions for at least a couple of days now and they still haven't come up with an answer.

Actually, Underdogs (the old standby for me when it comes to old, lesser known games) usually has a few patches up for some of their games..or if they offer the game for download most of the time it comes prepatched. As of right now I'd say that UD, or any site that's similar to it, are about the only places you can find patches for old games.

There might be more, I should do a check for it later.

Try hitting a good search engine ET!! The sites are ALL over the internet! Underdogs is just one, but there are others out there that include vapour and abandonware as well as achives of old boxes and manuals, screenshots etc. Underdogs is far from just an archive of old and obscure games... there's really a lot of mainstream stuff there, as well as really good links to other sites.

Ive had Underdog bookmark, as well as other sites for for reference on other old PC games, however my question is more focused on thread title "Does one exist?".

I think eventually there will be sites dedicated exclusively, soley, to the preservation of PC game material. Having a one stop resource for PC gaming needs would be most useful [as opposed to searching through numerous sites].

The closest thing to what you're looking for is www.gamefaqs.com, which as a catalog of games for all platforms, including player reviews, faqs, walkthroughs, and message boards. Not a resource for patches and mods, however. But a site like that could easily expand to include such a feature. Hey, what about PCGR? The infrastructure is here. All the pc games are categorized. Let's get the PCGR Resource Center up and running! ;)
