Advanced project looking for developers

I am the lead programmer and administrator of a game development team called xGameProject. Our project has been running for three years now. We have completed a game engine, a world editor and produced an artwork bank of moderate size. During these three years we have learned many things about the development process.

We are now looking for programmers and artist to work on a new game project. This new project will be an elaborate action game running on a new game engine we are creating ourself. This project is not commercial, which means nobody is getting paid, not even myself, the team leader. What you can gain from this project is a valuable teamwork and game development experience (and also the satisfaction of creating something).

Programmers should have a complete knoweledge of the C++ language. This means knowing class inheritance, STL and templates. Commenting skill also is important. Programmers also should have the will to learn new things when necessary and have the motivation required to work on an elaborate project in team. We do not require that anyone has previous experience with 3D APIs such as OpenGL or Direct3D since we will have our own 3D API abstraction layer, but knowledge of linear algebra is helpful. We do not require you to provide a sample of your past work, but it would be appreciated.

For the art side, we are in need of modelers with knoweledge of 3DS Max. Modelers have to be able to skin and animate their own models. We are also looking for texture artists, the software you use to create images does not matter. Finally, we would like to recruit level designers. We have our own level editor which is similar to worldcraft and other 3D map editors.

If you are interested, I encourage you to visit our chatroom (#xgameproject on irc.afternet.org) to get to meet our development team and discuss about future possibilities.
