Sorry to interupt Gamecube owners of this forum who possess the aforementioned console which admittedly has very enjoyable selection of games e.g. Animal Crossing.
Why is it that in multi-platform releases, Gamecube is always left out in the cold?
Its just as legitimate form of consumer entertainment as the other two consoles so why don't developers treat it like the great platform that it sorely needs to be refered to as and not misrepresented and ripped to shreds that it is by the tech spec assailants that are the Xbots and the brand obsessed PlayStation2 owners.

Ok maybe a bit over board their but you get my point.

Likely because first party games over shadow the third party games. All hype of GC games usually goes toward the exclusives and third party games are overshadowed. With the Gamecube, some developers don't feel as if they will get a guaranteed profit unlike that of the PS2. Another problem is that some games come out months later after they've come out on other systems ala Hitman 2 and Auto Modellista.

However lately the third party games have been starting to pick up, especially from Capcom. Games like Splinter Cell and StarCraft: Ghost are heading this way. The future looks promising, but I don't know whats going to happened because of the gamecubes past.

Many reasons...
Nintendo doesn't seem to care about courting certain publsihers ( for instance, I simply can't understand why a game like ColinMcRae 3/4 which was released on PS2,XB & PC didn't make a GC apperance).

GC media is 1.5gig, 1/3 of the other systems (both DVD-Rom, 4.4gig) this has to be a factor no doubt. Some developers have to cut corners because of the small storage capacity (eg. No or compressed dvd extras in EA big , Activision Xtreme Sports games).

The unusual GC controller which makes playing non-Nintendo games very awkward.

The poor reception/sales of the Gamecube outside of the US & Japan.

And you're on the money spielundspass when you talk about the tech-obsessed nature of gamers. Nintendo's refusal to play that game has hurt them I think. The GC is a very powerful piece of hardware - it's capabilities far exceed the PS2 and are closer to the Xbox - and very easy to develop for. But Ninty never publicized the fact.(Unlike Microsoft who pretty much masturbated over the technical capabilities of their console..)

Yea, I think the main reason is the fact that Nintendo games seem to overshadow games from other developers. It's hard to get excited about some multiplatform game when Mario or Zelda is on the way.

That's not to say that games from other developers aren't as good. The Resident Evil series, Viewtiful Joe and Ikaruga are all great non-Nintendo games. If developers take time to make a quality game it will succeed on the Gamecube.
