This is an offshoot of the long thread that started wtih a lousy Ninja Gaiden review at a Christian website and devolved, then evolved again into a wide-ranging religious-philsophical discussion.
Any journalist or politician looking to portray gamers as "something"---violent, ADD, poorly read--they should read this thread.
I have NEVER, in all my years on the net, seen such a lucid, mostly respectful, and intelligent discussion of religion, spirituality, and ethics. Gamers Rule!!!!! (At least the ones here at sys wars.) All topics relate to all topics, so I also appreciate the mods letting this one run its course.
And even the the recipients of my harshest criticism. . . the christian dogmatists. . . .the christians at this website were more lucid, open minded, and well read than I've encountered nearly anywhere. If your faith is enriching your life, then go with it. Let your mustard seed move mountains.
Obviously we are not representative of all gamers, but those of you posting here regularly. . . you've let me know for sure why I like this forum. There is depth and substance beyond your views on gaming. That is rare in the world of game forums.
This is a very special place, and I'm honored to interact with all of you.

I agree with you Gadfly. Sometimes topics get totally off gaming and into politics or in this case religion. Most of the members here are intelligent people. And we still like the ones that aren't anyways.

Yes, I was surpirised that the thread didn't get locked (because it wasn't always game related). Thanks to the mods for letting us debate. We may have very well saved some souls :-)
You know, I deliberately stayed out of the conversation, and didn't have a thought about closing the thread. You guys did a great job of debating while respecting each other's opinions! I'm impressed :)

Now it will be interesting to see if we've learned anything about properly debating with the game-related topics.

I always had a feeling that a lot of the conflicts that erupt from System Wars were mostly due to exaggerated viewpoints. So when we are discussing something deep and meaningful, we put our System Wars "alter egos" aside and spoke from the heart.
Like I said in that thread, I learned more about the participants in that one thread than over a year's worth of console arguments.
