Is anyone following this game? I never played the original, but this one looks sweet! Here's a link for some more info.:

I guess what it pretty much comes down to is, if you like pirates you'll like this game. It doesn't stick to closely to one genre of gaming. There is action, adventure, RPG, puzzle and simulation elements. The story is a little less fictional than Pirates of the Caribbean. Though it does take place in the 18th century in the Caribbean of course. You'll be in the midst of the Spanish/French/etc. towns scattered throughout the Caribbean. You can choose political alliance and much, much more!
But don't get too excited. I guess the game is still deep in the development phase...

I'm keeping an eye on this one. Port Royale is the first pirate game I ever played. It is a great game with one serious flaw. Late in the game, when the cities are really built up and there's a lot of traffic on the seas, the game will start to ctd (about once every twenty minutes or so on average, usually when you initiate a battle). It's a universal problem that the company never fixed. Most people experience it. If not for that, I would give this game an 'A'. Trading, fighting, city building, quests, a primary campaign, reputation system, some hidden surprises - just a great all-around game. But that stupid bug....they're making Port Royale 2, hopefully they'll solve the problem in that one.

Action:
You can engage in epic sword battles.
Adventure:
You can explore various towns and ports in the Caribbean.
RPG:
You're character will become more powerful over the course of the game.
Puzzle:
Various puzzles will need to be solved.
Simulation:
The game takes place over the lifetime of your pirate. You can try to woe over a female by impressing her family, or you can forcefully take over the village she lives in with your fellow outlaw pirates.
I know how let down I was with Sea Dogs 2 (PotC) . I have plenty of rpgs to work on for now- Gothic 2 and KotR being my passions for now. I do have DD to reinstall someday as I do want to get through it as well.
I have been getting back into shooters and am finishing up Call of Duty now. I also picked up Raven Shield and am looking forward to it.
For racing games I been enjoying Pro Race Driver although it isn't perfect it is good. I still have Insane loaded and it is not mentioned much but is really a good fun romp in the dirt.

Hey DBS! Where ya been?! Anyway, Raven Shield is pretty crappy. However, there are some out there that insist that it is better than Ghost Recon. I, mind you, am not one of them! ;)

I could imagine Raven Shield being a more tense experience multiplayer, but overall GR definately takes the best game cake.

is poc that bad? i heard it was pretty good, and was thinking about buying it now that it's reall cheap...
I found it a chore to play and although the sea battles can be the best part of the game I was sure hoping for a more compelling pirate game myself.
SBS,
I been working 6-7 days a week as I was trying for a promotion into management and thought showing the initiative would help my cause. In the end I guess I was used to get through this winter season and they put someone who went to school with the market manager but I feel ok knowing I did everything I could to try for the advancement. In the end I might be alittle bitter but it really seems to be not what you do but who you know. Oh....well now I will have more gaming time again :)
I do like GR , OF, and Swat 3 too. We will see what comes of Raven Shield as I just been in a shooter mood lately.
