Ok say Nintendo decided not to make another home console or they did make one and it failed miserably. If they considered making games for another company who would be most likely to buy them out Microsoft? or Sony?. Or Which one would you prefer them sell out to? Would it have a major effect on either Xbox2 or PS3 if Nintendo made games for one of them?
Personally I think that Microsoft would be more likely to buy out Nintendo, Actually I would be hoping that. Power to the Underdog. Who knows Nintendo mebbe would make games for both of them really. I think that if Nintendo could bring a lot of people to either console.

Nintendo is one of those old style honorbound Japanese companies...chances are good that if they folded on the console front they'd never make games again.
By the way...Maddox will probably be pretty pissed that you're using his picture.

No ones buying out Nintendo, even if their next console was to flop. Reason being that little thing called a GBA

Come on have some fun say they were going to make games for someone else. Mainly I want to know who you would rather have them make games for.
Oh yeah and Renzatic I was thinking about changing my avatar before but now I think ill keep it. Im sure Maddox is gonna get pissed despite thousands of his other diehard fans who do similar things if not worse. If he does decide to grace us with his presence and tells me to remove it I shall. How do you know he is gonna come to this site anyway? After all you said he will be pissed.

The success of the GBA indeed is the primary reason Nintendo is sitting comfortably right now.If anything was to happen with Nintendo and the next GC and Nintendo was on the verge of life support I believe that Nintendo would become a 3rd party support to Sony and MS before allowing either one to buy them out.
Plus if it did come down to one of them getting a chance to buy Nintendo out I'd say Sony would do it.If there is one thing I can say about Sony they know how to advertise better than anybody.

I definitely wouldn't want to see them developing for BOTH companies, just one. I'd be happy with it being on either system, but I lean towards xbox. Nintendo franchises are going to have to take the step to online to be viable next generation, and Live is the best online console gaming service. Mario Kart, Smash Brothers and F-Zero Live. And on the same console that hosts Rare. And Bungie. And the Oddworld games. I do believe I know which system I'd buy next generation, and it'd be the only one I'd probably need.

Even if they folded, they're Japanese and therefore more likely to go with a Japanese company like Sony then an American company like MS.

For nationalistic reasons Nintendo woud embrace Sony. And honestly Sony is more of a "game" and entertainment company than Microsoft is. It would be the biggest news in videogames ever and would have a major impact on the industry for a very long time.

I have to agree with both Deathstroke and Tashi on this one. Eventhough Sony has taken the top position from Nintendo (and is trying to do the same when PSP comes out), I see Nintendo backing a Japanese company more than American. With the "Sony Brand" well established in Japan, Nintendo wouldn't have a problem selling their games there.

Nintendo would never fold as a company due to GBA, but they can easily fall out of the console market. That being the case, they will follow the money. You will see another Sega, with MS buying exclusive rights to the Mario or Zelda frachise. If they closed as a company altogether it would be due to owning creditors and again they would HAVE to go to whoever would give the most money. Their hand would be tied in the situation.

Although Nintendo has always been a pure game company, as opposed to Sony or Ms, and their lack of diversifying into other markets may hurt them in the long run, but I don't see Nintendo ever folding and ceasing to exist... rather I see it as a merger, like Square-Enix as opposed to say, something like MCI just buying bankrupt Worldcom. So I think Nintendo will always maintain its own identity even if Sony one day ended up being a majority share holder.

I dunno... you guys forget about sega? They develop for the xbox. If Nintendo folded (which I doubt will ever happen) I imagine they'd take the most lucritive route of developing games for any console that sells well. They'd be silly not to. Damnear everyone loves nintendo games.
Except for that horrid animal crossing. What the hell happened there? Blech. I'm still offended by that game and I haven't played it for the better part of 2 months.

Im not so sure that they won't fold. I haven't heard anything about the next gameboy, but im not so sure the gameboy DS can hold its ground. Sony pushed back the release date on the PSP so they could make more games for its starting lineup so Idk.....If nintendo loses domination of the handheld market then its game over.As far as consoles go I think that nintendo is likely to fail there. I hope not but it seems like there next console is to be a disaster.

That is the 2nd time you have bashed Animal X-ing. Why oh why? Have these current dark days hardened your heart so much that you have forgotten how to love? Where is the love, sw33tjimmy, where is it?
Well, all kidding aside, I think AC is one of the most innovative games of the current (or any) generation. Besides, there is nothing quite as satisfying as unlocking Balloon Fight and playing some serious nostalgic multiplayer. Admitedly, AC does plateau after a while, but it is oddly addictive nonetheless.
