PS2 exclusive.
So, multi-system owners. . . are you going to rush out and buy the Ps2 version? Are you going to wait a few months for the Spring '05 release of the superior PC version? Or can you wait for the xbox version. . . a bit better than PS2 but not quite PC?
I'm one of those people who think if you buy it for the PS2 and then buy it again for xbox or PC five to twelve months later, you are retarded.

First I'll wait to see if this GTA is worth my time and money first. Then if the reviews are as good as the rest of them then I'll most likely rent the PS2's version. Then if there is news later on down the line that an Xbox version is coming then I'll hold off and buy the Xbox's version. If there isnt going to be an Xbox version then I'll buy the PS2's version.

I just didn't enjoy GTA3 and GTA Vice City as much as everyone else. Sure it was fun for a while but I found the missions boring and such. After I played True Crime I just couldn't play GTA agian. True Crime may be inferior in many ways but I loved the shooting and missions in the game. That is what made the game better to me.

I didn't rush out and buy the first two. I own and have finished both on PS2. I'm not chomping at the bit waiting for the new one though. GTA3VCSA can wait.

I'm kinda lost on this, I still haven't played GTA3 or Vice City. It just looks retarded to me. In fact, as I keep reading reviews of Mafia, it makes me not want to buy the game, which I probably won't, because of the many GT3 references. I don't know, some franchises I just don't get and don't understand why they are popular, I guess its like some people who didn't like Halo.

Whatever...I waited for GTA DP and it was WELL worth the time spent because it is FAR superior to the PS2 version...what makes you think a few extra months are really gonna matter?
here's the choice...
PS2 - comes out sooner, looks like trash, crappy framerate making aiming almost impossible
Xbox - comes out a few months later, looks better, acceptable framerate making aiming a breeze, custom soundtracks
I think I can wait...besides, I'll be too busy playing Halo 2 this winter.

I'm definitely getting it. I have no problem playing it on PS2.

why buy the new one??? once youve played gta3 or vc is it possible to get a sequel??? they were great games but i dont see how they will make a better sequel. maybe if they let you enter all the buildings and improved graphics but for overall gameplay i dont think it will be a different experience at all. ill save money and buy 3 or vc

Will GTA: San Andreas be an actual sequel or just another Vice City? Vice City was basically an expansion pack. Used the exact same engine and game mechanics, they just made a new environment and new missions.
I bought GTA3 for the PC and I couldn't believe how boring and repetitive it was. I think that was the first time I realized the much-hyped console games tend to be pretty crappy. (KotoR followed suit.) GTA was fun for the first half-hour, but after that everything was the same. And no, stealing an ambulance to play paramedic doesn't strike me as entertaining.
Daman, I wouldn't highly recommend Mafia (at least, the PC version--I can't say I've seen any of the others, but IGN's review of the PS2 version paints it as a complete travesty). It's not really like GTA3 at all, the comparisons are only on the surface. Mafia is a heavily story-driven, very cinematic game. If you liked movies like Goodfellas you'll LOVE the story, atmosphere, and environments of Mafia. The city is just so alive, so filled with detail. It sacrifices some of the freedom found in GTA3--there are no side missions, no little secrets lying around for you to search for. Since I don't care about that crap in the first place I don't miss it. Mafia was the best action game of its year (2002 I think?).

Doesn't really matter if it's a PS2 exclusive initially or not. For me (and many others) once GTA3 and Vice City are played there's little desire for me to do it all over again in another city. GTA3 and Vice City are pretty much the same game just different locals and music. The new version must be revolutionary for me to buy into it all over again.

A better graphic engine would be a hell of a start.I'm going to wait and see if this chapter is going about something before I'm ready to pounce on it.
