What are your thoughts on this game? Im playing it with a friend and we are on year 4 so far. I think it is a pretty fun game worthy of the scores it recieved. Not much in the storyline though....Just wanted to know what everyone thought about this game, Unfortunatly this will probably just turn into a Ninja Gaiden vs. FFCC and MGS::TS thread.

I have had the oppurtunity to play this game in four player mode. Let me tell you, it is truly fun and one of the better games I've played, if not the best this year. I've read alot of reviews about the game and I'm just about to say screw professional reviews. I think this game is up there, espeicially with the fun factor. With four people playing (which is really what the game was designed for) a storyline that is in depth really isn't needed. I'll admit in single player, it gets kind of lonely because you really don't have anyone in your party except for you and the moogle. Its interesting to say the least. Also this game isn't as easy as everyone says it is. While playing with four players, my friends and I had to think of a serious strategy to defeat this one boss. I'm very happy with this game, and I'm glad I bought it. I'd recommend this to anyone who can play more than one player. Also though, the single player can be quite fun.

This game is harder then most people say and it requires cooperation with your friends. I would say that if you only plan on playing by yourself then you probably should not buy this game but if you have friends who have gameboy sp's then get it.

Don't worry we're pretty safe from the raging Xbots here on the Gamecube forum. This thread should stick to the topic at hand which is FF:CC first impressions.
I haven't played the game and don't plan to either. I don't have friends with GBAs to play with. I don't even own a GBA for that matter. I was rather upset when I heard that this Final Fantasy is a multiplayer game. Oh well, I'm glad to hear you guys are enjoying it at least...

It doesn't sound like one you'd want to buy and play all the way through by yourself, but I bet its worth renting. The main reason I want to rent it is I want to get a good look at some of the visuals--graphically this game is supposed to be very intense, IGN said it had some of the best stuff this generation--and also I want to hear the sound and music.

I see what you're saying, but from what I hear the game is pretty lame playing by yourself. Perhaps a rental couldn't hurt though. It's just that there are so many other (no GBA required) games out that I would like to play more. I really just don't think this game is for me. At least you guys can play it in all its 3 friends + GBAs glory. Enjoy.

yea I'd say at least rent it. I've started playing single player, and its not a bad game by all means, but the story is the same in multiplayer so its like I've already been there done that.

I rented this on a whim today (I'd actually planned on renting Twin Snakes). I hadn't rented a game in a long time since I usually just buy what I want to play, but there are several games I've missed that I want to sample (including Wario World and 1080 Avalanche.)
no.1 gamer, you've got to rent this. I'm pretty sure you'd like it. And I'm almost positive Trebor would like it. I think there was excessive griping about the single player mode because people feel left out by the 4GBA requirements for multi-player. While I'm sure having friends with GBA's who want to play this with you would propel this game into the highest levels of gaming fun, what is there even in single player is damn cool.
This game is worth getting just to look at--when we talk about games as works of art, it is this type of game that best exemplifies that. "Nice water effects" is one of the most over-used comments about this generations games. Yeah, finally water can look real. But this game, I just have to say it, this is some of the most gorgeous use of water ever. What makes this game worth a rent is the absolutely beautiful, organic world to explore. The fighting is fine, item management is a breeze, and the quests for myrhh are cool, but to me it was enough just to wander around this stunningly beautiful world. Very relaxing, and the music is incredible. And my god, there are some incredible graphical touches I've never seen in a game before. Like the Crystal in your town, when you walk behind it, it refracts you into a dozen images. . . it is so much like looking through a real crystal. . .I just found this tiny thing to bo so cool.
This is the best videogame music I've heard in a long time, maybe even better than Windwaker. The only way, I think, that a person could not enjoy the mood and atmosphere of this world is if they just really hate anything that has "cute" in it anywhere.
I'll have more to say when I've played it more, but this is a gamecube exclusive, the first Square game on a Nintendo console since the SNES, this is something I really believe all nintendo fans ought to check out for themselves. I can't yet say whether this is worth owning for the single player mode, but I can say without a doubt, whether you are a Final Fantasy fan or not, you should try this game out. It is a very high quality game, and shouldn't just be snubbed because you don't have a GBA.

Year 19....lol your a better man then I. Let me ask you if you have crossed the river on the boat? On the first couple of years the water is dried up, but then there water and a boat you can get on. Get on the boat and there are a ton of new things to fight and the end boss as well.

I remember not having much interest in this game when it first came out, it just didn't strike me as 'fun'. But some time ago my friend bought it and invited me over to play multiplayer mode. I have to admit, it was pretty darn good. The graphics are well-done and the music is just wonderful; I also remember laughing my head off at the end of the year seeing all those people dancing, my friend and I even got up and started dancing like them (and failing miserably).
I asked her what it was like playing single player and she says its pretty fun. I can't see how but that's what she said. Overall, this game makes it on the top ten list of gamecube games I really enjoy.
