View Full Version : First Ninja Gaiden, Now Dead Or Alive Ultimate Gets Delayed!

First came the sucky news that Ninja Gaiden has been pushed back to a March 3rd release at the earliest and now, Dead Or Alive Ultimate has been pushed back to a very shakey & tentative June 1st release.

Man, it looks like the Xbox release list is pretty baren for the first half of the year. Ninja Gaiden in March and....uhm.....that's about all that's worth mentioning.

Meanwhile, Gamecube has already bested the Xbox with the superb Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles and Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes early next month. Don't even get me started on how great the PS2 releases have already been so far.

And in other breaking news....The "Game" has hit the rat/fink button on me yet again. This time, for my signature line and profile picture. This marks the THIRD time "Game" has ratted on me when he couldn't stand up to me in a debate. Then he proceeds to admonish me for not talking about games while he manages to tell me how much the mods hate me, that I am on a very short leash and I only need to slip up one single time and I will be "banned forever" as he puts it. Really, I would love to know what mod has told him this, especially given the fact that he himself has been banned not once, but twice now and let back on both times. What, I don't rate the same courtesy as other posters? Really, I am dying to know more about this.

So Xbots everywhere, enjoy yet another stinging delay for one of the only good games Xbox is getting in 2004 and rejoice with your brother "Game" in his latest attempt to get me banned through hitting the rat/fink button. Me, I'm outta here for the day. I'm feeling kinda moody.

Forget Ninja Gaiden, it looks pretty but a Ninja battling large demons and crap is just too hokey for me. I'll rent the game, i'm sure it is gonna be a runaway hit. As far as DOA:Online, i'm indifferent the game is not a true sequel, and after Soul Calibur2 left me disappointing, I think i'll wait until someone comes along and revives the fighting genre with some new ideas. I ragged on Soul Calibur2 for basically not offering enough over the Dreamcast version, so I have to say the same about DOA Online, its an online sequel of a dying genre.

I think the big games for XBOX or at least for XBOX Live is RaceCarDriver2, this is the one game I don't want to see delayed, though i'm sure it will be. The other big game I have on my radar is Steel Battalion Line of Contact, now that it will be online the value of the controller shoots up because this game will be a killer online. I'm just worried about lag, so I think i'll wait for feedback, but if I do, i might miss out on the allotment. Mafia will also be hear in a few weeks, along with Colin4.0(sorry no PS2 version), DeadMan'sHand, The Suffering, and Tenchu, all before the 2nd week in March. So as usual, you crys are WAY over exaggerated. I think my April, XBOX will once again be leading the way. And there is no big rush anyway people are still getting mucho gameplay on Live from PGR2, SegaGT, R63, didn't you know, "its good to game together."

Took you a while to be moody AOE Enforcer. :) That happened over the weekend. No mods in our group mentioned anything about hating you. The problem I saw was the profile pic. Maybe something you didn't expect to occur, but it was pornography. Since you agreed not to post anything like that, and agreed to amend your signature, I don't see a problem with you as a member. If you have a concern, contact me, I'll tell you what is and what isn't going to happen.

The way I look at it is if there is a problem with one of our members and we can work it out, all well and good. If a member chooses to ignore our requests, then there is grounds for banning. Nothing like that happened. You didn't ignore my wishes and I appreciate that.

And I very much appreciate the courtesy email you sent me about the pic in my profile page. I don't know if it was a problem with my browser & ISP or what, but the pic never showed up on my own screen and I thought it didn't exist any longer. I haven't put my sig line back, but I will and it will be ammended so that it is not offensive yet retains the humor from the film that it comes from.

As far as what I said about being banned, I was just going by what "Game" told me in a post he directed at Folken and myself...something about us having our equipment that defines us as members of the male gender removed making us "unics."

But back to the main subject of this thread and more importantly-directed at Daman since he gave me an honest-to-goodness answer, I am quite disturbed by DOA Ultimate being delayed. Everyone has their own reasons for buying the system(s) they own and Ninja Gaiden was foremost in my decision to buy an Xbox. This is my kind of game. Branching out a bit further, Tecmo is one of my favorite developers and thus the Dead or Alive games are very appealing to me. Along with Halo, these are the two games that I most want to play on the Xbox.

Since I am a multiplatform gamer and there are several great games on the PS2 I want to get, I won't have any shortage of games to play in the meantime. It is just dissapointing to me that I have to wait even longer for these two games that are on the top of my "most wanted" list.

That's the movie my signature came from. I just watched it again last night with my wife. I love the part where Holden McNeil is talking to Silent Bob and saying "When Lord will I be free of this foul-mouth chucklehead of whom I am a constant victim of his folly." LMAO!

And you really, really have to have watched all the other movies before you watch Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back. Otherwise, people won't get the chocolate covered pretzel joke or many of the other references.

Hallaluya. Delays means that more time is being put into the game to (hopefully) make it better. Perhaps they're working out last minute kinks. I applaud game developers who are not afriad to delay games in exchange for a better product. I've already played 2 games for Live that were prematurely released: Sega GT Online and Unreal 2. Both games clearly need some work in streamlining the online coding. The lag renders both of these games almost unplayable at times.

Delays do not always equal a better product. Look at TR: AOD...

hopefully...

Sometimes it just means the game sucks, and unfortunately no amount of time can save it from sucking. But didn't Game Informer already give it a score of 9/10 (meaning it doesn't suck)? How could they have given it a score already if it's still being worked on?

No, they don't.

However, I'm the kind of guy that prefers to look on the sunny side of things, so I'll look at KOTOR and Crimson Skies instead! :p

Speaking of delays, I see that another one of 2004s "biggest" got bit by the delay bug... Starcraft: Ghost! Once scheduled for a holiday 2003 release, it got pushed back to January... then February... then March. Then 2nd quarter 2004... but now I see that it's got a date for late August! Aye carumba!

Welcome to the happy world of Blizzard, Glock. They delayed Diablo 2 for a full year before finally deciding to release it.

But their delays are always for a good cause, Blizzard games are some of the most polished games you can get.

If both Ninja Gaiden and the next DOA is delayed then so be it.I rather have a product delayed to be fine tuned for a better game experience later on than for it to be rushed.

Plus the last time I checked I didnt force you to put Porn on your profile page.So how can you be pissed off at me for something you shouldnt have done in the first place? Think about it.(If your picture wasnt offensive then it wouldnt have been deleted)

Other than that Enforcer you need to get over it.Back to videogames and less flames. So you and Boy Wonder need to relax.

So...I guess that Fable, Thief 3, Full Spectrum Warrior, and Sudeki are not worth mentioning? Those are all listed with release dates in the first half of the year. Shoot I am also interested in Dead Man's Hand(especially for $30) and Tenchu. Then we could even bring two more titles into the mix that the GC will not be getting: Manhunt and ESPN Baseball. Oh and btw---EBGames is still listing DOA Ultimate with a date of 3/23 as of today. What is the whole point of this? That you need to go do some research and have a look at the GC release list before you come in here and start spewing garbage. Maybe the two Team Ninja offerings are the only Xbox games that are on your personal radar, but that certainly does not mean that they are the ony games on other people's radar. Another btw for you before I am over and out---FF:CC is "superb" huh? Maybe according to you, but not according to the other 27 sources that currently have it at an 80% on Gamerankings. Sounds like that one will go down like another Midtown Madness3 or Outlaw Volleyball. That's cool---you just sit back and wait for more "superb" GC titles in the first half of the year. Oh wait there is some good news for GC in the first half of the year---it gets Rainbow Six in June. LMFAO!!!!!

Ninja Gaiden plays "smooth as silk." (so far) I played some before work this morning. I was just getting used to the controls and all, didn't get into any combat, didn't have time to play very long. I will tonight after work. I believe you can save your rank (progress) from the demo and bring it into the full game at the start.

Like I said I never got far enough into the game to actually get into any combat...I just started getting a handle on the different attacks, wall climbing, jumping, climbing, jump climbing, wall running, getting from point A (wall) to point B (ledge) and up. Found a chest with a potion and a gate that wasn't open yet.

So far I'm VERY impressed. This is a game I wasn't really interested in not so long ago (hard to believe) so for me to be impressed is really saying something. It appears to be well worth the wait...and about damn time...about damn time Xbox has another "true" system seller. This one has the goods to deliver from my initial impressions..

I don't think playing the demo in this case would hurt at all. It might even "enhance" your experience. That's my take.

Yeah I just had a look at the release list for PS2 and I don't really see much to write home about during the first half of the year. I mean they get RE:Outbreak and Final Fantasy, but neither of them really thrill me anyway. They also have one of Enforcer's "shakey" release dates of 6/30 for GT4. We all know that is not happening, though.

The new OXM has a demo of Ninja Gaiden the game is awesome if you like PoP you should like Ninja Gaiden it's not as much puzzle solving but the fighting engine is the best in any 3rd person action game I've ever plays it almost plays like a fighting game especially when you fight the boss with the nunchucks (he's in the demo). Tenchu is on the demo too and it was garbage!

Is mafia out for the PS2 officially I saw a copy of it in Tower records!

Thanks Buzzy. I can't wait now that someone has endorsed the actual gameplay. I also agree with you about that system seller statement. I will say this, though. Even though it is not a true system seller I absolutely cannot get enough of Project Gotham 2. That game totally rocks beyond belief.
