The calibration is pretty frustrating. I follow the instructions, but the aim seems to be off whenever I start the game. I can use the standard controller, but the point of the game is to use the gun. Does anybody have any pointers to get through this???
Thanks in advance!

I'm sorry mister, I really don't know what to tell you...
If you're following the instructions then you should know that calibrating the gun is an EASY thing, and one that doesn't take more than 5 seconds to do. There's no trick to it, whatsoever.
I wonder if the problems that you're having aren't just... "normal". I do remember times when it seemed that some shots I fired were virtual duds - especially when firing at enemies right at the screen's edge - but I always just kind of... expected the game and gun to play and operate that way. Becasue of this I never, really thought I had any problems.
However, if you think that the problems you're having are much worse than that, then maybe there is something wrong with your gun?
See if you can't pinpoint what the specific instances and troubles are, and then maybe I can tell you whether those things are "normal" or... not.

Thanks for the response. I thought it would be easy to set up also...I shoot the gun and there's all these x's whizzing by. I assume I line up the sight to the target and shoot, no big deal. Once I get into the options, it usually takes awhile before I can get to one player, stage 1. The shots are all over the place. Same thing once I start playing. The only time I can usually count on hitting some targets is when I use the machine or grenade guns. I aim right at the bad guys, and often times hit my own guy, who's on the opposite side of the screen. I've wondered if I have a defective guncon, but thought I would post a thread to see if anybody else has had trouble.

Glockster- I checked Namco's website and my Sony TV, KV-36HS20 is on the list of being incompatible with the guncon. Damn!

I own Time Crisis 3 and play it with no hitches on my 27" JVC.
When I took it to my mother's house to play with my nephews and others it would not calibrate properly on her larger, more expensive TV.
I paid full price for this game......... looking back now I wonder if I should have.
Perhaps you can get a refund or exchange for the game due to it being incompatible with your TV?
I know stores can be strigent about exchanging games but if you explain that the game just will plain NOT work on your TV and you were completely unaware of that at purchse, they might work with you.

Video standard for the TV has nothing to do with wether the gun will work or not -- HDTV vs NTSC, etc... What does matter is the type of TV. Light guns do NOT work on projectors, LCDs, Plasmas, or Rear Projection TVs. They only work with standard CRT TV's and monitors. See: http://entertainment.howstuffworks.com/question273.htm
for details on how a lightgun works. After reading this, it is very easy to understand why the guncon controller ONLY works on CRT monitors.

Unfortunately, it is not that simple. I have a Samsung 32" CRT television with HDTV. I've tried all the different methods possible to calibrate the Guncon2 guns. It just does not work, period.
