View Full Version : Nightshade so far has proven to be just another Ninja hopeful.

Not only did Nightshade receive an overall review of a 7.0 from IGN,but Gamespot's review of Nightshade was a 7.9.And if that wasnt brutal enough Gamerankings review score of Nightshade was an overall rating of 68.8%
I guess its safe to say that the upcoming"Ninja Gaiden"indeed has nothing to worry about here.Nightshade is a feeble attempt to challenge the PS2's Shinobi. But apparently that attempt fell a tad short judging by the reviews.
So is anyone surprised by this or not surprised?

I'm not surprised at all. I've played this game on a demo from OPM, and it's pretty much exactly like Shinobi was, only with a girl. Supposedly, the difficulty was dialed down some. The fighting style and graphics are also the same. It's not a horrible game, but not even close to being great.
Isn't this game a side-story to Shinobi?

Plus there also supposed to be a all girl version of a new Tenchu game in the works too.(I may have to think about picking up that one) I do remember reading somewhere that Nightshade was supposed to have been a side story of Shinobi. From what I've seen of it I wasnt really impressed with it anyway. But I am indeed looking forward to up and coming Ninja games like Ninja Gaiden and Tenchu III:Online for the Xbox.So far there really isnt many good Ninja games on the PS2 right now.I still have the old PSX version of Tenchu.Thats my kind of game right there.

Speaking of Tenchu, will the Xbox version have an in-game save during missions? In the PS2 version, Ithere weren't any, and during long missions, that sucked. If the Xbox version doesn't have it, I will probably get the PS2 version for cheap.

Apparently, there's another new Tenchu game coming to PS2. The one coming to X-box is just a port of last year's PS2 game.

Thanks for repeating what I just said to R.B.H.

Is Ninja Gaiden going to have stealth missions, or is it balls-out, non-stop action all the way through?
Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven was a very good game that amazed me when I first played it. I had never played a game like that before. What are the differences between the one on PS2 and the one on XBOX? If it's on Live and will have downloadable levels and stuff, I might wait to but that version when I get me an XBOX.
Are there any other stealth games like these on any of the current generation of systems?

From what I have read in previews and have seen in movies, it's pure action, with just a little "Find the key to progress" type of puzzles. This is pretty much how the old school Ninja Gaiden games were, so I'm glad they stuck to the formula.

I think Tenchu may be the only ninja stealth game out, as far as good ninja stealth.

The new Tenchu game is definitely not a lazy port, that's for sure. It actually makes any other belated lazy port look bad, since those rarely add anything extra to make gamers interested.
Instead of the PS2 version, now I am going to have to hold out for a good deal on the Xbox version of Tenchu.
