AOE Enforcer: Finally Coming To His Senses

My good friend AOE Enforcer hasn't been on lately-he's been too busy playing good games and trading his crappy Xbox collection off.

He's basically narrowed his Xbox games down to around 23 from his original 70+ games. Gone are the crappy Microsoft Game Studios titles like Blinx, Amped, Crimson Skies and more. He now has a trimmed collection of decent games including Sega, Tecmo and....well, Halo and Project Gotham. And that's pretty much about it.

We have both come to the realization that the Xbox is dead. It's #4 behind a damn handheld. Microsoft has lost nearly TWO BILLION DOLLARS already and it's only been two years. Think about it. After the profit they have made on their games, they still LOST that much money. So in reality, they lost OVER 2 billion on Xbox but made up for some of it with game sales.

I've decided that I'm not buying an Xbox, even though I will have plenty of money to do so very soon. Instead I am going to be buying a Gamecube for a second system as well as the Gameboy Player and probably a Gameboy Advance SP system. I can honestly say there are at least two dozen Gamecube games I want to get after playing Enforcers Gamecube. Then, the Gameboy has all the Castlevania and Metroid games I want. I want to play Ninja Gaiden, but it's not worth the money to blow on a system just for one game. Gotham is fun but I like Gran Turismo better. Halo I haven't even really played much, but shooters like that make me sick and I'm not willing to take a chance on it. I could care less about the other racers and shooters on Xbox. The rest of the Xbox games that are out are on the PS2 and Gamecube also. So again I don't need an Xbox to play these games with their minor improvments.

Xbox 2 most likely won't even come out and if it does, it will be a flop without the hard drive in it. Everything you Sony haters complain that Sony makes you buy you will now have to buy. Memory cards and all. So from AOE Enforcer aka Gaming Geezer 78 and myself, good luck Xbox owners. I hope you enjoy your system while it lasts. Just don't expect much in a few years when the next Sony and Nintendo systems come out.

Note: This is AOE Enforcer at Apocalypse's place. SBC has yet to fix the lines at my house so my own internet service (and subsequently my own sign-on) is on the fritz.

The only games I have that are really, really worth a damn and I play are Halo, Gotham 2 and the Sega & Tecmo games. Everything else is either multiplatform, crap, PC ports or more crap.

I've really, really had enough of MS and their garbage system. 18 months young and BAM! The damn thing dies on me. My new one is already acting funny off & on. Daman_he_so_stupid is right about something-loathe as I am to say it. Microsoft has tried too hard to be a "me too" system and mimic what Sony and Nintendo have done. That is their failure. That is what has cost them their #2 spot in the system wars. That's why Xbox 2 is doomed to failure before it even gets off the ground.

You Xbots wanna know what a good game is? Try R-Type Final on the PS2. Only $29.99 brand-spankin' new and it kicks ass. But oh wait, I forgot! The last time I checked the talk is all about Xbox Next and PS3.Nobody is really giving the next GC a chance in hell.Besides being an Xbox owner I do enjoy playing all of the multiplatform games on the Xbox.Why shouldnt I? The Xbox's version of 95% of those titles are the best versions anyway.And the GC's versions are right behind them followed by the PS2's.

Besides Xbox owners indeed are happy with great PC ports coming like DOOM III,Half Life 2;etc. GC owners are the ones that should have their heads in the sand like an Ostrach.Old PSX ports of Resident Evil 2,3,and Code Veronica? Old crappy DC ports of Sonic Adventure 1 & 2? Do you really have room to judge Xbox owners on enjoying PC ports compared to this? I dont think so.

Well here comes a really fun game by MS called Crimson Sies, and you hate on it because you find part of the storyline to be hokey. Give it a break man. Why not go back to playing that really fun:rolleyes:game with the great story...The Getaway. You just gotta love a game with a story that would make Hollywood proud, but with so many gameplay and control issues that the game is virtually unplayable.

No, I have plenty of other reasons to hate on Microsoft. Namely, them accusing me of bootlegging Windows NT software when their piss-poor tech couldn't figure out why a server crashed so he tried to play it off as a "licensing issue." Guess what? That bone-head probably threw himself off a MS office building after his ass got fired. That there is reason enough to hate MS. Paying them $240+ for Windows NT support over the phone and then having accusations thrown around that it is pirated software when you have the original discs and more importantly-LICENSE AGREEMENTS right in front of you.

And hey, because I bash an element of Crimson Skies does not mean it is a crap game. Just not into flying games that much. Hence, the reason I don't own ANY other flying games. Halo was a throwback FPS game. Those always have "Captain America" story lines. I didn't think Halo story was all that bad. At least until the Flood and the little moninter guy showed up, then the s*** hit the fan. As long as they aren't back in the next one I'm cool although the scene at the end of the credits gives me doubts...

Really, I don't know of many console FPS games that don't have a one-man army style story. Maybe Killzone will give us something new.

Yes, that is one of the trends in FPS's that I would like to see "broken" by a few games in the future. Halo has the master chief fighting along side marines, but it only lasts for short periods of time. All that good marine AI is only used in a few spots, while 85% of the game is spent lone-wolf style with Master Chief going solo. Even the Rainbow Six 3 game (single player) has Ding Chavez doing most of the work.

Brute Force had the right idea, but the game developers didn't go far enough with it.

And yes, Microsoft has lost over 2 billion dollars on Xbox in only 2 years time. Some of this was offset by profit on games, but the end result is still nearly 2 billion in losses on the system.

And yes, Microsoft will find a way around this. The same as they found a way around all the losses they were incurring on WebTV. In short, they will can the project.

Anyone around here (Richard Hobbes, feel free to step in) can tell you that a company will cut their losses and drop a product that cannot make them a profit. Microsoft has already stated in an article that Gadfly so politely linked to that they "will never make a profit on the Xbox." What makes you think that they will keep the product around when they freely admit they will never make a profit? Charity? Good will toward man? Hardly.

Their next step which they have already begun the process on after less than two years of the first system being on the market is to start cutting costs. The end result is consumers will be getting less for their money with the next Xbox should Microsoft go ahead and release it. No built-in HDD is a big step back for the system. The hardcore who supported Xbox because of it's fancy components will move on and the mainstream will wait to see a big price drop like the first Xbox has had in such a short time.

All around, this spells disaster for the Xbox project.

For a person who thinks we are a waste of a gamers time why is it you have to respond to every post put up by the Dynamic Duo. I am pretty much sure it because you have a secret desire to be a member of our group but you would have to grow up a little. Enforcer and I do not spend every waking hour playing games we do have lives and don't depend on fantasy worlds of games to keep us entertained. Most people on this site have proven that they can play with the big boys you have'nt. I like the fact that most gamers are concerned about the money that M$ , Sony , and Nintendo make because it does make a difference to people who are worried about the future of gaming. I don't bash M$ just to bash it. I just can't find a reason not to. Enforcer and I have been on a quest lately to find the best reasons for buying either Xbox or Gc and I have decided that Gc is my best bet. It seems that the majority of games I want are on Nintendo. No, I have plenty of other reasons to hate on Microsoft. Namely, them accusing me of bootlegging Windows NT software when their piss-poor tech couldn't figure out why a server crashed so he tried to play it off as a "licensing issue." Guess what? Actually I brought up The Getaway for two reasons and neither of them was to divert any attention away from Crimson Skies. If anything Crimson Skies needs more attention because such a great game deserves better sales. The reasons that I brought up The Getaway were to show that I like to play my games...not watch them. I also brought it up to demonstrate that MS can make games that are good in the fun factor department. That is one of, what I feel, is a typical bs argument about MS around here.

I never said Bouncer was a great game like what xbots have claimed about Halo or the upcoming Ninja Gaiden. I liked how you could play the games through 3 different point of view. Since Street of Rage 3, I hadn't had played final fight type game. Bouncer was the one for me in a long time. It was a mediocre game but I just liked it. There isn't any formable logic behind it. First off no one had to brag about Halo being a great game.The reviews from critics all across this country as well as Xbox owners around the world let it be known about Halo's greatness.Just like videogame critics let it be known how crappy the PS2's Bouncer was.But yet good Graphics is about the only thing The Bouncer had going for it.

The other stuff you had to say it total BS.You're busy trying to rationalize the genres on the Xbox.Why? Its like this everyone knows that between the 3 consoles each console has more quality in certain genres than the other two does.And vice versa.

Right now the two best looking games thats alot us around here has seen lately has been RE4 for the GC and Ninja Gaiden for the Xbox.How does that make you feel Capt.Sony? Sick I'm sure.Right now MGS3 and GT4 is the only two PS2 titles that I've seen that can compete with those two other games graphically.

Whereas Final Fantasy shows off special moves and such, DOA Volleyball allows you to pan the camera around for the best crotch shot possible on a digital T&A girl.

Comparing DOA: XBV is the wrong game...how about compare Crimson Skies...nothing on PS2 looks half that good.
DOA:XBV is a blatant T and A game it gets annoying. IT looks good but it gets boring ,hell if I want to look at tits and such I have a wife and of corse there is always the internet. I have not played Crimson Skies but the way every one is talking about it I am going to have to pick it up just to try it out. The Game calls Ace combat 4 a crappy game but I love the damn game. I have owned it for years and I still get a rush out of playing it. The graphics are so so but game play is awesome. I love hearing my wife say stop that when i go in to a barrell roll because it is making her sick LOL!!! I expect AC5 to be twice as good if it ever comes out Until then I can hone up my flying skills on AC4. It reminds me of an old arcade style flight game and I miss them all arcades in my area pretty much suck. Air force delta looks to be good I have not played it yet but can't wait to get my hands on it. (to anbody that has played it ) How is it is it any good.
