I am thinking about getting a PS2 for online play. I was wondering, besides the network adapter and broadband, how much does it cost? Also does it work with DSL?

Online play on PS2 is free, minus Everquest and some future games (FFXI). Your MMORPGs are gonna almost always carry a fee, and yes it works with dsl.

Thanks for the information. I already have an X-box and Gamecube but the X-box has nothing online to interest me. I was going to get a PS2 anyway, but I wabted to know if the network adapter was worth it. And do I need a service provider or just the cable?

You do need a service provider and depends on your serivce. When I bought one and it didn't work, for some odd reason I also needed a router for it to work. So that might be an extra to consider.

If you plan to "share" your connection with anything besides your PS2 such as a home PC you will need a "router" to split the signal.

Or you can be cheap like me and just carry you modem from room to room as you use each device.

I have PS2 online and I use SBC DSL.

Everything runs well and set-up was a breeze.

I am unsure if you need a provider or if just the "line" is suffecient.

And in my opinion the network adaptor is worth it because once you have played online with and against others, one player games will seem like Pac-Man.
