View Full Version : What do you think of this?

Not the advertisement in the top of window, but the item located just below in the "DESCRIPTION" box: Farstone GameDrive software.
It aughta save the wear & tear on game disc alright, but what about game performance? Anyone using or know of someone who is?
[newegg site reviews not withstanding].
It's a good idea in theory but I can't see anyone really shelling out $19 on this and connecting another device to their PC (thus potentially increasing compatibility conflicts) when they could just download the latest no-CD crack off gamecopyworld or elsewhere.
*edit* upon closer inspection, it seems to be just software, not an actual device (i'd initially thought it was a USB device or something). but still, the above point stands, and i doubt it'll be long before publishers find a way round it. which would leave you having to update your gamedrive software (if the makers even offered updates) or downloading no-CD cracks...

<i>"(1) It can copy an entire CD/DVD into a single, compressed disk-image file that resides on your hard drive
(2) It contains a driver that fools Windows into treating the disk-image file as if it were a physical CD/DVD running in a physical CD/DVD drive"</i>
Sounds quite impressive ang game performance should come above average. But the best PCs for gaming, right now, are Alienware and NorthWest Falcon.

Yeah, I thought the concept in & of itself was quite impressive!
I have a fedish for keeping my CD's like new, hence my interest. ;)
Oh, right. I misunderstood. Forget what I said above then. If this thing actually increases your gaming performance then that's a different story. If all you're after is protecting your CDs, surely a no-CD crack is the way to go...

It might negate those ass annoying CD-checks that are present in alot of games...Morrowind being the biggest offender here...but hell, you pay 20 bucks to do what any ISO ripper and d-tools or a nice CD crack does for free. Not worth it in my opinion.
