I'm creating a 'game den' in my basement (big couch, big screen) and want to pick up some good classic multiplayer PS2 and PS2 games.

So, what do you all think are the best multiplayer games for either system? Any sports game is an obvious answer.

Recommendations?!?

Thanks!

Dynasty Warriors 4.

It supports a two-player co-op mode.

Two player co-op is not quite multi-player, but the mode can be very fun for a group of people sharing turns.

Also, the game is not online capable. It's only true drawback.

If you can find this game at a decent price, it is worth the purchase.

Dance Dance Revolution with the dance pads. Playing DDR with a controller just isn't remotely the same.

Virtua Fighter 4: Evo is a great multiplayer game. Matches are short so you can get player turnover going if you have more then two gamers, see who can hold onto that controller the longest! And it's fun to watch too! Me an my buddies pull it out whenever we want to kill time. It's amazing how quickly you can get back into the rythm of the fights.
Plus it'll only set you back $20.

Also just about any sports game is good. Most people already know the basics about whatever sport you pick and the controls are usually pretty simple so anyone can get in on the action. My personal fav is NHL 2K3.

Here's a few that have yet to be mentioned. They are great for people who like to compete. Well, most of them are.
Frequency-see below
Amplitude-Easy to pick up and play, assuming that the players have some sense of rythm.
Tekken Tag-Tag fighting is way better than one on one matches, IMO
Crash Bash(PS1)-like Mario Party. I'm assuming, since I've yet to play a Mario Party.
Contra: Shattered Soldier-Only die hards need apply, serious. For reals, even. But very rewarding if you and another can master it.

Have to agree <b>totally></b> with Tekken Tag.

The only fighting game I know of where two players can play together as a team against computer opponents.

Every other fighting game I know of are player vs. player or 1 player vs. computer only.

Great game.

Everyone in my house liked it and it still gets played when company comes over.

The only reason i do not play it still is I am not all that into standard button-mashing fighting games.

I can not stand to play any game where those that can press the buttons the "fastest" are the victor.

And where buttoin combinations to exceute moves takes tens if not hundreds of hours to master.

I lost intrest with that when the first Mortal Combats came out.

I have more important things to do than spend hoursd upon hours trying become a "black-belt" at a fighting game no one will be playing in two years.

Despite all that, I enjoyed Tekken Tag greatly because of the pair play mode.

It is the only fighting game in my library, except for some stupid Bloody Roar 3 game I got as a gift.

BTW has anyone tried the multi-tap with Tekken Tag?

I don't think it is possible with Tekken Tag, but it would have been awesome to have 2 on 2 fights.

I don't have a multi-tap so I don't know.

Pretty sure it is 2 player max though.
