I have been waiting for this release since the day I first played Fatal Frame. Crimson Butterfly is the scariest game ever made in my opinion. The graphics are stunning compared to all other horror survival genre's. The shadowing is near perfection and smaller details like flashlight position and background movements add a lot. The game play is the same as the first so if you've played Fatal Frame then you will have no problems this time around. The setting is a little more in depth and there is more to explore this time. The Movie sequences are more in depth now as well. This is truly the best game I have played in a long time. Only suggestions I have are to the weaker minds....do NOT play this game alone or in the dark. It has already cost my girlfriend too much sleep. Please rent/buy and enjoy

As the original? The original was quite unforgiving, from what I played of it.

I'm a big fan of survival horror.. horror in general and the Silent Hill series always got my vote for scariest game(s) I ever played. And I'm a big Silent Hill fanboy and it's a little hard to admit, but Fatal Frame 2 is freakin terrifying.

I didn't think the first one was that scary, mainly because of the camera mechanics. I got so annoyed taking point blank photos and missing, and barely getting any points to level up my cam, that the game wasn't scary. It totally ruined the atmosphere. Some of that is still here and it's pretty cheap, IMHO, but they did balance out the camera gameplay and it's a lot better.

It blows the first one out the water and snatches the crown from Silent Hill. Although Silent Hill is very cerebral and I always liked that about it. It's the only game that had me looking up Shakespeare on the net. :p

Fatal Frame took a lot of flack for fighting with a camera, but I will say, the picture taking takes more skill than shooting zombies. I'm hella impressed. To quote Mr. Klump from Nutty Professor, "this is some scary s***"

I hear Siren in Japan is pretty damn scary too. Hope it comes to the states.
