Hello, fellow fans of Adam Sessler, TheeGreatMind here. I know, I'm flogging a dead horse here by posting this, but it occurred to me that while there were many posts asking which version of Soul Calibur II people will be getting, none of them asked the reasons WHY they will be getting one version over the others. So, it will come as a huge shock to longtime audience members that I will be buying the Xbox version and the reasons are as follows.
1. I loved Soul Calibur on the Dreamcast and particularly its controller and the Xbox Controller S mimics the DC controller perfectly.
2. I prefer to game in high-definition. SCII for Xbox has 720p resolution while its counterparts only go to 480p (for those who haven't gamed in HD, you're missing out. I'll post about HD gaming at a later date).
3. From what I've read, the Xbox version is the most polished technically, with no slowdown and low loading times. The Xbox Controller S has been universally praised for its responsiveness as well.
4. Spawn is at the very least as good a character as Link. I've posted this before, but Heihachi Mishima has no place in a WEAPONS-BASED fighter. From the reviews I've read, the pros seem to agree with me on this.
5. Oh, the joys of gaming in a Dolby Digital 5.1 soundfield cannot be underestimated.
So, how about you all? Which version will you be buying and WHY?

With the exception of Madden, which i will not buy because im getting Fever 2004 or ESPN2K4 for their support of XBL, there is no question on which version to get when it comes to a multiplatform game.
XBOX ALWAYS.

I'll reply to your points.
1) Yes, the Controller S is like a spawn of the Dreamcast controller. Yet...the buttons hurt my fingers on SCII after about 45 minutes with the S. The PS2 controller also has the same button layout as the Dreamcast pad but doesn't make my thumbs hurt from repeatedly pressing the buttons.
2) I rather have double the number of games than a HDTV and half the games. Sitting 4-feet away, a 27" is plenty for gaming IMO. I know HDTV looks noticably better, but it's not something I am concerned with at this point in time.
3) I've read this same "polished" hooplah and I can tell you as an owner of both the PS2 & Xbox versions, the differences are minimal at best! Load times on PS2 between matches are MAYBE 2 seconds longer than the Xbox version and the graphics are nearly identical. Really, nearly identical! In fact, I can hardly tell the difference and if you didn't know which system was running, you wouldn't know the difference either.
4) I had my reservations about Heihachi, but really-he is not "unarmed." He has power bracelets or wristbands if you prefer. He is fast as lightning and can juggle opponents in the air and send them careening off the edges of the arenas faster than any other character that I have played. He can put opponents in a headlock and literally squeeze the life out of them for several seconds before delivering a punch to the top of the head! He is actually a very cool character and not out of place at all once you begin playing. Spawn is awesome as well BTW.
5) I don't know about 5.1 since I just game in 5-channel, non-digital surrond with a seperate sub-woofer. But both games sound identical on my setup.

I still feel that the DC's version of SC kills any version of SC II.Not saying that SC II isnt good.Not at all,but even comparing both games side by side DC's SC still IMO looks and plays ten times better than the GC,PS2,and Xbox's version of SC II does.
I'm glad I bought for the Xbox.I just wish Namco could've added more exclusive materials to each version of SC II though.Plus I cant complain.I had a spare $39 dollar store credit at Gamestop.So I only paided $13 dollars for SC II.Plus I love the free book of art that came with the game if you pre-ordered it.
btw,Spawn is pretty cool to play with.And I still feel that Heihachi is a waste of space for the PS2's version.Power bracelets? LOL! Whats next? Heihachi with a loaded diaper? LOL! I say what can power bracelets do against somebody with long range weapons like Kilik or Nightmare? Not much if you cant get inside to hit your opponent.I hope some of my friends bought the PS2's version for I can prove my theory to be precise on Heihachi.

First of all, I'd like to state that I am not a fan of Adam Sessler. He is a fragile little girl (that's right, I said girl) who dictates reviews on X Play but never writes them himself. Adam could get beaten up by a group of clowns, for all I care.
Comparison time:
1) The PS2 controller is MUCH better for the same reason already said by GG78.
Winner = PS2
2) X-box should get the cake on this one for the same reason you have stated.
Winner = X-box
3) Soul Calibur 2 on X-box only loads 2 seconds faster than Sony's version of SC2. What's the big deal?
Winner = X-box (by half an inch)
4) Off Topic: Heihachi ownz all!!!!!!
5) Sony's PS2 can interact with Dolby Digital 5.1 soundfield. X-box can not.
Winner = PS2
Total scores: PS2 earns 2 points & X-Box earns 2 points
Aw damn, I hate this......It's a tie between Sony and Xbox. But it doesn't really matter since Soul Calibur 2 isn't a cool game. It only comes average, IMO.

I bought it for Xbox because the Controller S is most like the Dreamcast controller. I never have any problems with the Controller S hurting my hands, wimps. I'll say this Spawn is so outta place in this game. Some dumb evil "super hero" with typical superhero tights and dumb little hand axe. I'll give him this, he is a decent character, but still outta place. I guess no matter what version you buy you get a dumb gimmick character, that will seem outta place.

Well, I was considering getting the game on the Xbox initially due to its technical superiority. After having a run-through of the DC version followed by the GCN demo, however, my opinions changed greatly.
First off, the DC D-pad gave my left thumb one hell of a time, with its cliff-like sharp edges and whatnot. Also, the bump in the back for VMUs gave me a couple of good callouses for a few months. It's still decent, but I was unable to play for extended periods of time.
However, I went back and decided I wanted to play my GCN preview disc, and specifically, the SC2 demo. Well, after a serious run-through or two, I realized just how excellent the right-side button layout was for this game. Haters may try and piss on the disproportionate buttons, but that's crap. The response time is ultra-fast, and doing multiple-button-holding moves is a charm. As for the D-pad, people may complain that it's small, but I've discovered that quarter-circle and half-circle moves are much easier to pull off due to the smaller size. Also, there's a faster reaction time 'cos it doesn't stick out as much. Not only that, but my left thumb can take it, no problem.
Controller issues aside, there's also the matter of Link. I don't care what people want to whine or ***** about in regards to him, but I personally believe Link was made for SC2, and vice versa. He fits in the most out of all the three exclusive characters. Spawn may be okay, but Namco was purely retarded to stick yet ANOTHER Tekken character in the game. I personally would have taken Xenosaga's KOS-MOS over that old fart any day, especially when Namco was bent on using a character from one of its own franchises.
People may say the PS2 controller is good for fighters, and while I agree to some extent, I still prefer the 'Cube controller for SC2. Also, the issue of PS2's technical inferiority was a big decision-maker for me, especially with a rather unimpressive exclusive character. As I mentioned before, someone cooler (even FFX's Tidus) may have warranted a PS2 purchase from me, but not over GCN.
So there's my two cents. Please, if anyone wants to whine about how I "dissed" Heihachi, save your breath; you're not changing my opinion on that, and same goes for how I chose Link and the GCN pad over the other two.
