The latest <a href="http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/fallout3/news_6085243.html">news</a> is that Interplay has shut down Black Isle Studios for good. They had a D&D title in the works that's been canned. I don't know what this means for any Fallout 3 possibility, but don't get your hopes up.
Interplay has lost over $20 million this year. The sooner this turd of a publisher is put to rest the better. Here's hoping they sell off their franchise rights, ie Fallout, to a good studio, like Ubisoft.

Actually, more news straight from my head dev, who works at the largest and oldest Fallout fan site, No Mutants Allowed. The situation is more FUBAR than before

Titus and the incompetent people that run it have not just killed off Interplay and Fallout, they got the division that people really liked (BIS).

Fallout 3 was in the works (under the in-house development name of Van Buren), was to about half completion, and then was slagged in favor of the crappy console spin-off that Interplay has planned that very few people like, much less tolerate. Rumor has it that the console game (which completely ignores the setting (http://fmf.knightcommand.net/index.php?chapter=27_things_about_fobos) and has gone gold already) is going to be split into two parts. It isn't going to make it in time for Christmas...kind of like BIS.
I just don't get the stupid people in charge of Interplay (or Inertplay, as it should be now known as). Why try to cash in on a title if you're just going to make the fans of that title irate? Why ditch what amounts to your top development house? No plans for any more PC titles are expected as Titus/Inertplay are going fully console based, nevermind that their recent console successes don't number Run Like Hell, the poor man's System Shock. The lead guy of that one is also responsible for many of the errors in the spin-off "Fallout".
Interplay, BIS, and Fallout are all dead.
By the way, did I forget to mention that IPLY's forums just imploded in a manner that makes the F:BOS trailer episode look like a warm wedding reception?
Spread the word.

No, this cannot be the end. When the new Xbox BoS game fails miserably, they'll hopefully sell the rights to Silver. I can only guess but with Interplay's strange mind set, who knows what could happen.

Silver? An engine that was going to run Fallout 3? I don't know what Silver is...

No I think Silver or something like that is the people who made Soldiers of Anarchy, and if I heard correctly they wanted to make the Fallout sequel.

Silver Style
Though I don't care that much for their work, they do need to work on a lot of polish. They are a good upcoming developer, though.

I think it's an importing bug from bringing over the database.
Since programming conventions use 1 Jan 1970 as a base date, no "additional" date was added to the base when the database was imported, as there was likely no field for it in the old forum script. So it pretty much means the Jan 1970 people like myself and Hieremias were users of the old forums, before they went to vBulletin.
