I keep thinking of buying the expansion and firing this game up again. I only have the original copy though, and I don't really want to spend my money on BOTH expansions (I'd only be buying an expansion to play online again, as most servers are playing with HoTU). My question is, are there servers that are running BOTH expansions? Or is the latest expansion good enough (i.e., does it cover compatability issues for both expansions)? I don't want to buy HotU and then turn around and have to buy SoU as well.

Wow, you only have the original? Man, you're missing out. Anyway, there will be a few of things you're gonna be devoid of if you don't buy both sets... Skills (Craft Trap, Craft Armour, Epic Feats) , Voicesets, Character Classes (Assassin, Arcane Archer, Dwarven Defender, Harper Scout), and Tilesets (7 in all)... large issues if you ask me... you'll still be able to play (as long as the servers you're playing on don't implement the new tilesets, but you'll not have access to the skills or character classes).

They truly have us by the balls on this one, if you want to play the full game, and experience the game fully. The HotU expansion DOESN'T upgrade your game to include the older expansions' features, just the features included for that one only. If you had to buy just ONE though, go with HotU... You'll be able to advance your characters to level 40 at least with that expansion... and it comes with a nifty NWN CD Sleeve case... Man, when I opened up my HotU expansion, I nearly fell over when I opened up the CD sleeve, and saw only one disc in it! LOL If you get it, you'll see what I mean.

Just an addendum: Currently MP NWN is on hiatus while they patch the current version to v1.6- the game that ships with HotU is v1.59, and they want to get ALL games up to speed with v1.6, so currently unless people are ONLY playing with HotU, you won't be playing any online games with this new expansion. They are slating to release the patch as late as the end of the year unfortunately... however, don't let this dissuade you from getting it, it's very well done, much like SoU... if you can, get BOTH, and you'll be NWN gaming for a while to come. The included scenarios are very entertaining indeed, MUCH more so that the OC. In fact, the singleplayer is VERY much worth playing now...

Hhhmmm well I may pick it up; we'll see how ole St. Nicholas treats me this year. I can't afford it until after Christmas, anyway.
