KotOR is a mediochre game.
Hordes of the Underdark is an awesome new quest to NWN.
Morrowind GotY pack is great.
Jagged Allaince 2 Gold pack is an unknown for me at this time, I have yet to play it since installation.
Combat Mission Afrika Corps is out, and the visuals and effects are finally meeting today's technology.
Dungeon Odyssey sucks (much to my chagrin).

Well, a few topics on the table- it's still early- lets shoot the **** about something... I can't believe nobody has posted nothing about anything in the last 6 hours...

I want Ultima X: Odyssey.

My new favourite band is Our Lady Peace...

My new favourite song is "New Favourite" by Alison Krauss...

I have finals in a week :(. After that I'll be able to form coherent sentences and start gaming again.

I would pay $75 right now if I knew that Fallout 3 would come out in 2005. MMmmm....Fallout 3...

KoTR is nothing special huh... well good in a way as I hate to buy it expecting the moon only to be let down.
I think I will look to pick up NwN Gold and the new expansion as I do feel I am missing out now.
I will keep an eye out for Jag Alliance gold as it is one game I never messed with but hear nothing but good stuff about here.
I been getting into Madden 2004 and Gothic 2 but it is a pain being a total wimp again and having the chickens kill me in 3 pecks !! I know how frustrating the beginning of Gothic was and it looks like we are in the same boat with G2. The guy is a zero for quite a while...

You also have me considering the new Age of Wonders sometime as I was one of a few that actually liked Majesty.

You have heard of Van Buren haven't you, Eric? It's supposedly the codename for the next Fallout game and Black Isle talks about it all the time, always dropping not so subtle hints about what it really is.

Maybe we should suggest an off-topic section for the forums.

Hard to talk only about games 24/7.

A place for personal and misc crap that won't get in the way of the Game information that people come here for.

Could help create a more vibrant community that will help draw in more gamers...

Moderating a MISC forum can be a biatch though I bet.

People already mount personla flame attacks over games.... would hate to see flame wars break out over more important stuff.

Dunno.. but I too have noticed at times the boards can slow down some.

Not form lack of vistors by the numbers I see.... I think we just have alot of shy people out there. ;)

Yuck, we don't need another forum.

I fear the worst for Vanburen it seems that Interplay has been having much troubles in the economic department. And with this new BOS game, holy jesus what were they thinking. Anyways if Fallout 3 goes into oblivion i will lose all hope for the PC.

Many good points here meagher 72.

For the last four years Ive participated on these forums, the weekends are almost always slow. I recall last winter near this time, posting would peak thursday/friday & fall flat come Saturday. I was lucky to see two or three new post over the weekend.
The weekends have been busy since opening of new vBulletin boards up to about November & are now settling back to "norm".

Re: Off Topic board. I think its a great idea. Its also an unpopular idea with majority of regulars.
Myself, I would prefer non game discussions to be posted elsewhere as opposed to using the PC>General Discussion board as a "dumping" ground for nearly everything. Why? This board is viewed by hundreds daily who look for game related topics & sometimes find a thread that starts out game specific & turns south into dommestic affairs that involve a few peoples personal lives. I understand its human nature for communication to meander, & as such think a non game General Discussion board is a good/useful thing.

Moderating such a board for PC users would be relatively easy. Terms of Use have been established for all VGR boards, & they would apply there also. Besides, I find most PC users to be mature for the most part, in control...

Re: "I see we have a lot of visitors...just shy", they are actually subscribers! Not just passers by. They can post, but choose not to.
[Ive received feedback from several on the "why", lets just leave it @ their being shy...] This is yet one more reason Lara, Chris, Rob & myself are holding firm on implementing Terms of Use, VGR is for EVERYONE! People should feel welcomed when they visit, there are a lot of smart regulars here that are willing to share their many years of experience. [hey, they helped me get Deus Ex2 running smooth!]
My $.02 worth. :)

Thanks for posting meagher 72

Holy crap Our Lady Peace has been up here in Canada for ages...

Good to have you back to gaming EtR, hopefully we can get some NWN gaming in again...

You'd pay 75 for FO 3, and I'd pay that for The Bard's Tale that is coming out near the end of 2004... Sweet!

You know what will happen right? They'll "concurrently" develop Fallout 3 for the XBox and PC, and instead of a TBS/RPG game, we'll get a FPS, the likes of Deus Ex... I can see it now...

Knights finally began to really bother me when a major piece of teh puzzle can be aquired through multiple choice questions. If you fail, you die, and reload, only to select the "proper" answer... come on, a battle would have been nice, or a multi-part quest... but, but, this? I was stunned, and totally disenchanted with the game after this... Being SO close to NWN yet SO far... what a shame...

The Gold pack is an okay deal, but if you can't get it for 30 bucks or so, I would leave it be... However, it's truly a great game, and is only getting better with the expansions that they are releasing... finally a HUGE dungeon that has wicked traps every step of the way, and is designed for levels 15-40... Mmmm 40th level. Great job Bioware!

Gothic 2 I haven't played for a long while, but I am deep into the quest attempting to convince the Cavalier that I need to wear the Dragon Amulet. Good game, I just burnt myself out on it playing Gothic, and it's successor too close together.

AoW: Shadow Magic is great indeed. The PBEM is a tad bit limiting, since you are automaticaly assigned wizards, and the combat is not tactical, but it's fun none-the-less. If you get it, get a hold of me, and you can join with my buddies and I in a round of PBEM...

Just so you know, I've been an OLP fan since I saw them in Tallahassee at a tiny club touring Clumsy back 1996ish. For some reason I'm just now getting back into them.

The Bard's Tale is coming??!?! SWEET!!!

The Bard's Tale (http://www.inxile-entertainment.com/). I'm a little apprehensive about it being similar in look to Dungeon Siege... but that really doesn't say much this early in the development.

Well, that's exactly the point isn't it? As a moderator, where would you put a post which started on a gaming topic but veered off into personal life discussion? In General Gaming? Or in General Discussion? Of course, I realise there are rational limits on these things and like you I don't want threads to meander too far off course - too much off-topic discussion is surely detrimental to any message board. However, we've both been around for a while and you know as well as anyone what happened to the Off-topic discussion board on the old site: it was mostly ignored and the few threads which did get started up there received very few replies. Maybe it would work better now we've got this new v-bulletin system, I don't know. Why not try it out for a while, if it doesn't take too much effort? There haven't been too many off-topic type posts round here recently in any case, so maybe we could do with a change...

I ended up getting KoToR and I REALLY enjoyed it. The graphics are excellent, the combat is really fun, great to be a jedi, have had lots of fun playing it through again the 2nd time as a Sith (except you had to do some seriously wrong stuff, lol).

Seriously wrong stuff? Hmm, I seem to hover roughly just below Grey without really trying (a nice shade of coral). I guess I'm truly an insensitive prick. I don't know how you've played through it twice... I'm seriously having difficulties playing it ONCE... I play a bit on the weekends, but the majority of my time during the week (when my time is limited) is being used to play NWN and put the finishing touches on Morrowind.

PLEASE note moya, this is a hypothetical response ;) Where would I put posts that meandered too far off topic?
As an autonomous moderator [which I am not], I would politley nudge topic to return to thread start. Thin skinned users would get the courtesy of a pm reminding them the intent of board, & thread start.
Failing that, I would apply one of two options: [1] edit out irrelevant replies [2]in extreme cases, follow Laras lead: close thread.
As modding tasks sit now, [in reality], I am bound by posting guidelines of Admin & Super to accomodate the vocal few.
If others desire that posting guidelines change to accomodate an "Off-Topic" board, they must speak up , & in numbers. ;)

Old boards "Off-Topic" being ignored is a fact. I recall being "advised" to move a semi relevant gaming topic to "Off-Topic" board a few years back......my reponse to mod was "...but geez, no one goes there! Whaaa". As a member, Im with you on this one moya, lets keep as is & see how it works out :)

After working lately on System Wars board [taking out the trash], I find the PC community a stable one, one I have no intent of "shaking up".
I do want the silent majority here to know they have a voice however, & if they want change, its a matter of letting it be known.

Post request for change under General Forum>Site Feedback.....or pm me w/suggestions

Just got back from Disneyland, where I spent the week with the fam. BTW, Soarin' Over California is a pretty cool virtual reality kind of ride - the huge 180 degree screen combined with the motion and wind effects really makes you feel like you are flying around outside. A nice harbinger of what the future may hold for pc and video games. :)
