I am in a market to purchase Gamecube system for my 5 year old. He already has N64 for time to upgrade.
Zelda Bundle for $99 sounds like a great deal. Is that the best deal?
What makes the Limited Edition special?
Thanks.

The Zelda Bundle for $99 is pretty much the best deal you'll find. If I were you, I would research the various sales by the various stores in your area - a lot of times you can get a free game or accessory if you buy it at the right store at the right time. But at the bare minimum, the Zelda Bundle is a good way to go.
The Limited Edition thing is just that - limited.

The Zelda bundle will be fun for you to play, but there is a lot of text to read and I'm not sure a 5 year olds reading skills will be up to par for it. So, you may also want to pick up a game that's more suited for his age. What games did he like on the N64? My little cousins like to play Super Smash Bros. Melee, but they're a few years older than your son/daughter. Perhaps he'll like a game with Kirby in it?

Thanks guys.
I think I'm going to trade some old N64 games my son doesn't like towards the Zelda Bundle. There's a place called "Game Stop" in my neighborhood where you can buy and sell used games.
Smash Brothers is by far my son's all time favorite. But neither he or myself could go through all the bonus rounds with all the characters to unlock one of the mystery characters.
Games you guys recommend? Only one I'm thinking about that one on one fighting game that came out recently with Link being one of the warriors.
Zelda (both Ocarina and Majora) was such a hard game to play at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's like seeing the game world in a whole new demension. Of course the game within the game (fishing games, Goron race) is so much fun.

I always trade in my old systems at Game Stop too. You'll have so much fun playing Gamecube games it'll be hard to go back to your N64. Super Smash Bros. Melee plays similar to the N64 version so you guys will more than likely enjoy that one too. It's also only like 20 bucks so you should definitely pick it up.
The fighting game you're thinking about with Link is Soul Calibur 2.
Another game I recommend for you is Zelda: Wind Waker. My personal favorite is Metroid Prime. But both of these games probably aren't suited for your 5 year old.
I recommended Kirby because I know that those games are geared towards younger gamers. I've never played any of them though. Either Mario Party 4 or 5 also might work well for your son. Beyond that I'm really not sure because I'm 22 and don't have young kids or play games with young kids.
Don't forget to let us know what you decide to go with though, and how much fun you guys have playing your new Gamecube!

I have a brother and a sister, they are around 10 and 11 respectively, and I could tell you what kind of games they like.
My brother is a pretty advanced gamer, so most of the games he plays wouldn't be suited for your son, but you can't go wrong with Super Smash Bros. Melee. Unlocking most of the characters is easy, as you either have to beat the game with a specific character, or just play a certain number of vs. matches.
My sister doesn't play very often, and she only likes simple games. She enjoys The Simpsons Road Rage and finds it quite funny.
You can have a lot of fun playing Soul Calibur 2 against each other. I always find it a good party game.
Two more games that are simple but that my brother is CRAZY over: Mario Party and Super Monkey Ball. Reviews for the last Mario Party (5) were pretty bad, but I haven't tried it yet. I know my brother loved Mario Party 4. The minigames are pretty simple but fun.
The other game is Super Monkey Ball 2. You basically have to get a monkey in a ball from the beginning of a level to the end. However, you actually tilt the level around, thus moving the monkey. The game is quite difficult, but he usually plays the multiplayer games. There is a racing mode which is quite fun because of the crazy level designs, and many fun, simple, mini-games, one that involves knocking the other monkeys off the top of a flower by punching them around while they try to punch you around. There is also a bowling mini-game where you bowl using the monkey as a bowling ball. Then you have monkey soccer, monkey baseball, monkey billiards (with the monkeys being the pool balls), and many more fun games. I highly recommend this one.
Hope that helps.

Yes the Super Smash Bros. Melee for the Gamecube allows you to unlock the extra characters by just playing the game. Even if you loose every single match you'll still unlock the characters! I would consider myself to be a Super Smash Bros. profesional and I will even admit to not having unlocked the last stage. In order to accomplish this feat you must defeat Giga Bowser who is painfully difficult. I guess if I sat down for a few hours I could do it though.
But this game can be easy enough for your son to enjoy. Just don't set the difficulty of your opponents to 9! And of course only the psychotic gamers like myself will attempt some of the difficult challenges in the game. :)
