For - at least - the third day in a row, Drake of the 99 Dragons has been the Number 1 XBox game over at GameSpot - despite the fact that they scored it a 1.6 out of 10!

I don't get it.

There aren't a whole lot of reviews available for this game yet, but of the ones so far, this game is scoring LOW. Game Rankings has the game rated at only 19% (that's with GS, EGM (1.167/10), and XBN (3/10) as the only three reviewers weighing in at this time)! And the reader reviews scores (of various sites) don't seem to have the game grading out much higher.

So why all the interest?!?

Is this just some sick joke on GS's part?
Has their system been hacked?

Or is there something else... something to this game? Maybe something "hidden" within? (Like... *gasp* nudity... perhaps?)

For the record, I am not interested in this game - not in the least. But, I would like to know why it's been the most popular XBox game - according to GameSpot - recently.

Anybody know anything, or got anything that they'd like to share?
Please, do tell.

People are fascinated by a car wreck on the side of the road. They slam on their brakes to take in the accident. This game is absolutely rank from the demo I played. Awful gameplay, crap looking, derivative, a disaster. Majesco was a company in whose games I had some interest, specifically Black 9 and Advent Rising. Now, seeing the garbage they're releasing, I have little hope for these other titles.

The crown for worst game of the year just received a new contender.

LOL
I like that.

I read the discussions over at GameSpot, regarding this very same issue, and that's pretty much the conclusion being drawn over there as well.

Have you read them, mass? Some of them are pretty frickin hilarious. Some guys were going at it, calling each other all kinds of foul names - all bitter and whatnot (much like what you used to see here on the old SW board... *sigh* ). That stuff is too dang funny, man.

what is weird is that if you go to gametrailers.com and watch the preview for Drake, it LOOKS pretty good. I think I might rent it for the hell of it....

That is definitely the reason why I clicked on the review. I always get a good laugh at a game that has scores as bad as Drake's. I wonder how long they worked on this game, a month?

I hope these guys aren't doing Black 9 and/or Advent Rising, or I will skip them also.

Majesco is only the publisher, but still, look at the dreck Atari publishes like Enter the Matrix and Terminater 3. Play magazine has a cover feature on Advent Rising. Didn't get a chance to really go through it, though.
