View Full Version : My EBX is closed!
I went over there today to browse the used games, and it was cleared out and locked up. This one is right in downtown S.F. I'm really bummed. There are two other EBXs between S.F. and my house, but one is mediocre at best, and the other totally sucks for pc games. The one in S.F. was special. Maybe because it was in a business district, it catered more to pc games than other EBXs, and was frequented by a lot of pc gamers. I was always finding deals in there - my last purchase was Project Eden for $4. I picked up Might and Magic 8 in there one time for $3. NFS: Porsche Unleashed for $6. And Hidden and Dangerous Deluxe for $10. I was recently toying with picking up Deadly Dozen: Pacific Theater ($11), Commandos 2 ($8), and the whole Operation Flashpoint package ($25). There are numerous other games I've bought there new and used in the last five years. This is a sad day.

You sure they closed for good Aku? The one nearest me on the East coast was closed for renovations for a few weeks. It too was cleared out and locked up. But they did re-open.

If CrapUSA is the only place left to shop for games by my work, I'll cry. Don't even get me started on that place.

i used to live down on outer sunset and there was a decent eb in that mall (i forget the name of it) out that way and to the south. i bought many a used game there on the cheap. but i think the pc market is downsizing in general, and this can especially be seen in a place like eb. the one i now go to in mass keeps losing shelf space to the console games and other goods i'm not interested in, like action figures. if this trend continues there won't be much of anything left in a few years. and, of course, that would suck. i almost never by new games anymore, and i wonder why no other retail store, at least to my knowledge, sells used....

Hey, you should be thankful you have CompUSA!
Here in Medford, Oregon, the ONLY specialized electronics store is Circuit City. No BestBuy, no nothing!
We do have a EB and Software Etc. near here though... :D

My local CrapUSA:
They don't put prices on the games, and the shelf tags are often missing, so a lot of times you don't know what something costs.
Games aren't in any kind of order - alphabetical, by category, or otherwise. It's been like that for months.
Bargain bins are actual bins with jewel case piled in - who wants to sift through that?
Few checkouts to handle long lines.
Wasterd space upstairs that could be used for more checkouts.
My local WorstBuy:
Ridiculously high prices for games, the worst in retail.
Only newer games.
Most 'sales' just bring prices down to what they should be to begin with.
Non-commissioned sales people hard to track down and not very helpful.
Few checkouts for long lines.

It's weird...your EB closes, but yet I just had one that opened up right down the street from me.
I think yours just moved to my area.
