And then some!
What is going on?!?
(Tried to type that in my best Joe Shmo voice... did it work?)
First, yes there is sheet load of (legitimate) XBL enabled games that have been released lately. With most of them being playable online - not just sporting downloadable content.
But what the heck is this latest trend I'm seeing... games sporting the orange XBL "Online Enabled" stripe when they aren't?!? Well, not really anyway.
Take for Prince of Persia for example. I was completely shocked to see the XBL stripe on this game, when there had previously been no word on this development. But in checking out the back of the box to see what online features were supported by the game, I became completely bewildered as I saw that the only one was "Friends". What the heck are they talking about?!? The Cabelas hunting games look to be the same. What is up with this?!?
You know, I think I know what this means. But, if I'm right... then this is lame!!! I think it means that these games, while being played by an XBL Friend, will appear on the XB dashboard as being played by said Friend. Okay, so that's a neat idea... but that doesn't mean that the game is really XBL "enabled"! Not in the way that matters to gamers - or prospective purchasers! And it especially doesn't mean that the gamecase is deserving of the orange stripe! C'mon!
Okay, G... simmer. Take a breath... *exhale*
Now in other, better(?), news... I see that Ninja Gaiden will also be XBL enabled! And not just for downloadable content - or Friends  - but it will actually be playable online.
Umm... so why am I not excited about this? In fact, not only am I not excited about this... but I am now rather suspicious and leary of this game. I'm sorry, but not every game needs to be playable online. Downloadable content is cool, but single player games - like NG (was supposed to be) - do not need multi-player modes "thrown in" to make them "replayable". I just don't see this working for this game. Nobody was expecting this either; because nobody really wanted it. Now... it's just something else to go wrong. Ya know?!?
Or am I just being overly cynical and pessimistic tonite?
Oh... here's some (potentially?), really, good news...
I see that SegaGT Online is supposed to support 12 cars online - not four! I just cannot pass this game up... not for $19.99! (Of course, there's bad news here too... as the games release date has been pushed back to December 10th. :( )
