How legit is the list? Looked pretty legit as the poster also had a cover scan of the front cover.
Some wacky scores for True Crimes with a scores ranging from 5.5 to 9.5. Someone was asking about Goblin Commander, big range of scores here as well from 8.0 to 4.5. Good to see MOH:Rising Sun receive the crap scores it deserves.
I'm disappointed with the scores for R:Racing Evolution. Namco is slipping aside from SC2. Killswitch was rental material and looked about as plain as vanilla ice cream. Armed and Dangerous didn't score as well as I'd hoped. I liked the A&D demo. Will rent first before committing to a purchase. GBTG gets no love here either.
Shame of the month is Drake. One reviewer gave it a 0.5. I played the demo, this is garbage, don't even waste your time on a rental. Craaapppp!!!
1080 Avalanche gets mediocre scores, with SSX3 out, why did Nintendo even bother. Gotcha Force is a capcom game if I'm not mistaken, looks like Capcom just got lucky with VJ and is back doing their swan dive into the shallow end of the pool.

It's funny how Mario Party 5 got Shame of the Month in Game Informer but recieved a Silver in EGM. I noticed people slamming Mario Party 5 because of that. While I'm sure Mario Party 5 is alright, it wouldn't be for me. Looks like GI has some issues with party games or something. Just funny how much opinions can differ.

Those really were some real splits. I've been wanting to play Goblin Commander. Fortunately, I've got a friend who bought, so I can play it for free first. 4.5 and 8.0? I know there's always some subjectivity in judging a game, but good lord. I've gotta think the guy that gave it a 4.5 either doesn't like RTS, or else is a PC RTS fanatic and didn't like the simplified console aspect.
And these giving Mario Party 5 a Silver? "Shame of the Month" seemed pretty extreme, but I have a hard time believing this game earned a silver.
Grabbed by the Ghoulies. . .is this like the worst reviewed Rare game ever? I mean, that is a worse score than BMX XXX. The game is pretty to look at in video clips, and I'm sure it has that signature Rare humor, but what did they do to the game-play? I'm going to have to give this one a rent just out of curiousity. Come on Rare, show us your stuff!!!
Midway Arcade Treasures. I forgot about that one. That is one I'll be picking up when it comes out. I bet it'll have better graphics on the xbox :) This is definitely one to pick up for whichever system has your favorite controller. Since they are simple old school games, I'm obviously all for the controller with the one big comfy giant green button.
Biggest dissapointment for me: Legacy of Kain coming in the 7-8 range. I was hoping they'd polish this one into an 8.5 - 9 gem. Oh well, I want to play it anyway.

Congratulations to Project Gotham Racing 2 getting EGM's game of the month honors beating out big time games like Final Fantasy X-2 and Rainbow Six 3.
And last month Mario Kart:Double Dash won Game Of The Month honors.I guess racing games are making a serious comeback in the videogame world.Kudos to both titles winning GOTM honors as well as EGM Gold Awards.

Wow!
There are twice as many XB exclusives as there for the P2 and GC combined!
When it comes to vg's, with regard to quality and support, the XBox is now, clearly, king!
(Too bad it's not doing so good sales-wise.)
The A&D scores are a bit dissapointing, but I'm not going to let them dissuade me! Unless, of course, the other 3 (of the "Big 4" - IGN, GameSpot, GameInformer, and EGM) don't like it either.
I'd be interested in reading their review of Crash Nitro Kart, I tell you what. I mean, they loved the derivative MKDD, didn't they?!? It'd be awful hypocritical of them to knock CNK for having the same qualities, then wouldn't it?!? And yet... that's exactly what we expect from the folks over at EGM, isn't it?!?
The most shocking thing, though, has got to be those Whiplash scores! They aren't half bad, are they?!?

Well the Xbox has 1 more sale to add to its report this month, I talked a bud of mine into getting one with Prince of Persia, Project Gotham Racing 2, and NSF: Underground last night. He likes PC and racing games so I told him he really didn't have any other choice but to. ;)

You do not, I repeat do not want to put $50 on this game. The camera is absolutely hideous in this game. They changed it from the previous Soul Reaver games and made it very frustrating. Things block your view, especially when fighting. The story and characters are what made me keep the game.....for a whole week. I think the game should get scores in the 5.0 range.

He made a good choice. The xbox is really coming into its own, and if he's into racing, he'll be in heaven. (I'm jealous he got PGR2 and NSF Underground.) I opted to get a bunch of older xbox racers to start and probably won't have those until January. Your friend will have a blast. . . Sega GT w/JSRF is availabe for $9, and I'd imagine he'd enjoy Rallisport Challenge. I'm personally finding Mercedez Benz racing to be a game that impresses slowly the more you play it. It's like, ok, slow realistic driving game. But then the sheer monstrous size of the tracks and the meticulous attention to detail---it really stands out as something unique in the world of racing.
Maybe if I get to where I don't totally suck at some of the harder online-capable racing games I might actually have to get Live. Is that an option your friend is interested in?

Maybe if I get to where I don't totally suck at some of the harder online-capable racing games I might actually have to get Live. Is that an option your friend is interested in?
Nah, he's not. Since he doesn't have a computer he doesn't have an ISP to get on Live with..and he doesn't wanna have to shell out for a broadband account just so he can play games online.
But when I finally decide to get an Xbox I'll be on Live the moment it's up to my TV. All I need to do is get a few feet of CAT5 cable and I'm ready to go.

GET ON IT!!!
WOOT!
I think I'll go ahead and pick one up this Christmas and get Prince of Persia for it instead of the GC, probably grab a few online racing games too while I'm at it.
Dunno about FPS's though..I borrowed Halo and played it a few hours ago and I suck at using the control pad for any first person games...it annoyed the hell out of me and I couldn't get used to it even though I played it for like 40 minutes straight. I guess I'm just a born and bred for the keyboard and mouse setup.
But then that leaves R6 out, that game would be great playing with the headset...WHAT DO I DO?

What about that special FPS controller, eh?!? You know, the one right?

But hey, man... it sounds like you stoppped playing about 5 minutes too soon! No, really. I took me about 45 minutes to get used to the controls for Halo too.
The problem isn't with Halo, that game controls smooooth - like butter (to quote my favorite poster :D ) - once you get used it, the problem is in controlling your adrenaline that makes your fingers and thumbs want to FREAK OUT! Just concentrate on keeping that shaaaaaving cream under wraps - till you get the right "feel" - and, eventually, you'll do fine. And don't worry about dying - no matter how many times you get killed! That's one of the great things about Halo, btw... the game doesn't make you start "all over" if you "mess up". Like I said, I had trouble at first too - but you should see me now!

Man, I thought I was your favorite poster! I feel jilted now...
That bit about freaking out when you face an enemy is dead on, I'd do that just about every single time I was surprise attacked, I'd forget which stick controlled what and end up moving around like Master Chief was having an epilectic fit while firing wildly in the air. lol, it was humbling to say the least, on Halo PC I was kicking ass and taking names playing Heroic, but on the Xbox I kept running the Warthog off a cliff...
I'd get used to it eventually, might even get really good at it since I'll be playing alot of R6 online...but I'm pretty adamant about the keyboard and mouse being better for FPS's. The precision and speed can't be matched by the analog pads, can't even come close.

Gotcha Force is a capcom game if I'm not mistaken, looks like Capcom just got lucky with VJ and is back doing their swan dive into the shallow end of the pool.</div>
Isn't it simply wonderful when we get some cold, hard facts that validate what we have been saying all month? I never heard of Gotcha Force because, apparently, it is a crappy game. 1080 , according to EGM, is another mediocre GC holiday title. Well, I guess as far as reviews are concerned the Xbox has the best holiday lineup hands down. Too bad there is no price drop yet to really kick those sales up a notch or two.

The PS2 and the Xbox had mass EGM Silver and GOLD awards while the GC walked out with GOTM with Mario Fart:Double Rash. And yes the Xbox is indeed shaping up to having THE holiday lineup to own hands down.

"Mario Fart" . . . . real classy. Yes, anyone can read Mass's post and see it won GOTM, so was there any point in your post at all other than to show off the hilarious witticism you'd just thought up? Thanks for making System's Wars a better place

My point was Gadfly was that alot of great games on the PS2 and the Xbox received a ton of EGM Gold & Silver awards in the issue that Mario Kart won EGM's GOTM.And alot of those games were both exclusives and multiplatform titles. That was also the issue that RS III got those not so great reviews as well.(LMAO!)
Theres nothing wrong with a little toilet humor every now and then.It doesnt mean that I'm taking away from that fact that MK:DD is a good game thats fun to play.Because it is just that. And as far as you thanking me for making System Wars a better place? Your welcome. Now you can get offline and go to timeout young man until you learn to respect your elders.LMAO!

While Nintendo does some things the right way, they do some things the wrong way. 1080 Avalanche appears to be just plain and simple not as good as SSX 3. I'm reminded of the NBA Kobe Bryant piece of garbage that was released just after the GCN's launch.
On the other hand, did anyone really think Crash Nitro Cart would hold a candle to Mario Kart: Double Dash? I just hope non Gamecube owners don't buy Crash Nitro Cart thinking it can substitute Mario Kart.
