A month or two ago, everyone listed the games they planned or hoped to be able to buy this fall (the Oct-Dec releases). Have you guys gotten to play many of your most highly anticipated, or were your eyes bigger than your wallets? What have you liked best?

I've bought much less of my original want-list than I figured since I spent a lot of my game dollars on an xbox and about a dozen older games to catch up on (just got Mech Assault today, haven't tried it yet.)

So far, of my fall want list I've gotten to get:

Crimson Skies--Love this game. It has been probably my favorite of the season, slightly edging out the next one:

Viewtiful Joe--my second favorite game of the holiday season that I've gotten to play so far. We've talked about this one a lot.

Mario Kart: DD --pretty much a tie for second. I've talked about this one too much already around here :) This one I imagine I'll still be picking up and playing with friends for a long time to come.

Voodoo Vince--not originally on my fall pick-up list, but I played it at a store, and fell in love. One of the most stylish platformers ever. A real breath of fresh air. If you don't buy it, at least rent it.

Anybody played Beyond Good and Evil yet? I'm looking forward to this one even more than the higher scoring Prince of Persia. Both of these games I hope to have by xmas. The other games I still want to get are Project Gotham II and Need for Speed underground, but I'm still heavily into older xbox racing games right now. Have any of you gotten either of these two racing games yet? How are they?

Other than that, the only other thing I'll probably pick up this fall will be Sword of Mana to play on my GBA player. And maybe Ninja Gaiden, though probably xmas shopping for others will push this one into January for me.

I love this time of year---there's so much good stuff, not just games. Seems like everyone I like is releasing career retrospective CD's packed in with bonus DVD's with videos. Just picked up Rob Zombie's retrospective, and it came with a DVD of all the videos, like 13 of them. Since when can you get a CD/DVD for just $13? Other great hits collections picked up this week: Tori Amos/w bonus DVD, U2, with remixes, b-sides, and bonus DVD, and the Best of REM. Next week getting No Doubt's collection (Best Buy is giving away coupons at their store to get this CD for $9.) I'm normally not a big fan of greatest hits collections, but all of these had so many extra's, they were irresistable. Anyway, happy holiday shopping everyone.

Oh yeah, and just to be obnoxious, I bought Michael Jackson's new "Number 1's." It made for great cash register conversation.

I've gotten burned out on Videogames recently. I know I made a big list of titles but right now, the only one I've gotten to is Viewtiful Joe and I just don't feel like getting to the other games anytime soon. I'll probably catch up to them sometime in the future when I feel like playing a game again.

About the only title I'm even remotely looking forward to with an eye to buying it on the first day is Resident Evil 4 and that is still a ways off.

Yea, same here. Most of the time, I just play fighting games. But, ffx-2 is here now. I'll try to beat it.

Oh hey, what newsgroup do you use for downloading anime. PM me or just post it here.

I don't know off the top of my head right now. I'll give it to you when I get home.

RR is starting to censor the newsgroups now. That really sucks..:(</div>

Cool.

What do you mean by censoring though?

I have already beat it, I am in the final chapter last battle on the second go around(2nd cycle). Trying level to characters to unlock the angel class, and also leveling and swapping residence of weapons. I have Lahari at Lv 239, and a rank of 10 in congress. Just can't pass the alternate netherworld bill yet, to the point of killing off some senators to pass it.

Wow, you sure play this game a lot. My Lahari is like Lv 52 but I transmigrated him like twice already. I also tried leveling up by going through the item worlds but it's just so boring sometimes. Most of the time I found myself waking up and realized that I fell asleep during the game. Right now, I am all into FFX-2. I suppose I'll start playing it again once I am done.

239....that is still a long way to go until you can beat the strongest enemy in the game....

Yeah, I wouldn't recommend leveling up characters in the item world, thats a BIG YAWN..... How are you liking the dress spheres and such?

So far, I have Fifa 2003 for PC. Damn, it's awesome! It took a while (like 15 minutes) to install on my half-crappy, pentium 3 computer but the waiting was worth it.

Gameplay is totally fun. Graphics are state of the art. The only thing that sucks is that the game is filled with R&B songs and I detest R&B.

I have that happen from time to time. It's always a good thing, generally. You using the extra spare time for anything productive? I tend to catch up on reading and writing projects when I'm not gaming, or try to take up something new (I'm getting ready to take up Frisby Golf with my fiance', just bought some special frisby's for it). Also, the house tends to be a little cleaner when I'm in a more-or-less non-gaming phase (I don't think I ever totally stop gaming, but it sometimes slows to a trickle, where I just pick up and goof off for a few minutes now and then with some arcade style game like the upcoming Midway collection.)

But right now I'm in the opposite phase. I don't think I've gamed this heavily since, well. . . .I probably can't go into the details surrounding the three month long gaming/acid/coke/tequila party of '92 that occured at my college appartment my sophomore year without getting censcored :) I'm not gaming as much as that, but I've been playing A LOT lately (I'll never be able to log the hours Darwin claims he puts in though.) I imagine by spring I'll want to do nothing but camp and canoe, and avoid all electronic objects like the plague.

I've got about three vices or obsessions in life:

Videogames
Anime
Writing

I'm currently full swing in my writing phase. Usually this obsession of mine doesn't go all that far but currently an idea has taken hold of my mind and nearly seventy pages into the story I can't seem to stop. With schoolwork taking most of my time and the writing taking up the rest, I've pretty much stopped gaming altogether. In fact, I don't think I've touched my PS2 or GC at all this week.

I've played most of the games on my list that wasn't delayed until next year. The ones I have played:

Legacy of Kain: Defiance - This game is garbage. Much like the Tomb Raider Series, unless I see significant improvements, I will never buy it again. The characters, voice acting and story are nice, the combat is repetitive very fast, but the one thing that brings this game down, I mean waaay down, is the camera. They changed it from the usual "follow the character" from previous Soul Reaver games to "stay in one place" camer that Devil May Cry uses. Unfortunately, it is a very poor version of the DMC camera. It isn't so bad at the beginning, but the more you have to fight characters off camera (even while facing the screen) and behind objects will become more and more frustrating, to the point where the game isn't even worth playing. That's how I felt anyway.

True Crime - This is another game that worn out its welcome. It's a decent game, but not $50 decent, so I returned it for Prince of Persia. I may pick it up again after it drops to its appropriate price.

Prince of Persia - This one's a keeper. Other than the limited combat moves (so far), I have no problems with the game.

The only thing left is Ninja Gaiden.

not very many.

Crimson Skies - awesome but not enough maps
True Crime - great for about a week, traded for...
GTA Double Pack - awesome, good to know I now own the #1 PS2 games and they are in better form

I will pick up Midway Arcade Treasures next week and maybe Ninja Gaiden eventually. Other games I will look into are:

Deux Ex 2
Counter Strike
Rainbow Six 3

That RR would purposely took out some of the files, just enough so your pars won't be able to fix it. It is also rumored that it will cap the file size down to 2mb....which all this would suck donkey's balls... http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/22/34034.html

But, there has been a update that RR denied all of these and newsgroup will work the same way as it used to. That is a good news, but I don't know if they are lying or not.

So far, my newsgroups are kinda unstable just yet. Hopefully it will get better soon..:(

How do you level up then? As far as I know, there is no way you can even break Lv1000 with just regular enemies from the storyline. If you want to fight those Gods or super demons in the item world, you have to level up in the item world. Or you have some secret you would like to share with me? :)

I like the dress spheres thing. It's pretty cool to watch them transfer from one job to another. The grid also add some strategic factors into the game. Another thing I just found out is that if you characters do certain special moves it will make ATB longer. That means it will take longer before it's your turn again.

Let's see. Right now I am hooked beyond belief on Top Spin and Crimson Skies. Both games are in my top ten of next-generation games. I am also dabbling in True Crime, but it is just not that good. Rounding out the list is the occasional game of ESPN Football which is my favorite football game ever.

As far as what is on "the list"---I was at the mall over the weekend and had PGR2 in my hand, but I just did not allow myself to buy it since Xmas is around the bend. My girlfriend told me that her mom wants to get me a game so...PGR2 will be mine on December 25th. Other games that I am hinting to people are R&C---Going Commando, Viewtiful Joe, and Ninja Gaiden if it makes it. Which ever ones I don't get for Xmas will get picked up eventually. So far though I must say that I am way more impressed with this year's holiday offerings than I thought I would be.
