View Full Version : "Why I Favor My Xbox Over My PS2," a Treatment by

Hello, fellow Clay Aiken fans, TheeKingAndGreatMindofSystemWars has returned. Sorry I have been scarce recently; I've been spending some quality time at the Neverland Ranch.

There may be certain Cubers and 2ers out there who want to know why specifically some of us favor our Xboxes. So, I hope I am not presumptuous by posting a list of reasons that will speak for most of the multiplatform Xboxers out there (and yes, I do own all three systems so unlike others on this board, I am writing from first-hand experience).

-My PS2 has broken down twice (disk-read errors both times) while my Xbox has not failed me once.

-I HATE memory cards. $25 for 8 megs of storage is a RIP-OFF. Just the other day, I had to go through both of my PS2 cards to clear out space for new game saves and replays. On the other hand, my Xbox has all the saves from every game I have ever played, whether they were owned or rented. Furthermore, games take longer to save and load with a memory card.

-I can use my Xbox as a multimedia jukebox for my CD collection. Currently, I have over 60 discs ripped onto it with more to go and I still have more than 50,000 blocks available. I can also download new content onto it. Can I do this with my PS2? Sure I can, after I line SCEA's pockets with $100.

-If I want to play one of my very few 480p PS2 games, I have to manually turn it on EVERY TIME I boot up the system (and reset if I forget to). Conversely, the Xbox auto-detects ED and HD games and turns it on automatically.

-Two words: Dolby Digital.

-90% of the time, multiplatform games are better on the Xbox than on the PS2.

-I've quit playing SOCOM and other online games on the PS2 because of the cheaters. But on Xbox Live, cheaters are few and far between (and don't go crying about how PS2 online is free while Xbox Live has a charge. You get what you pay for and $50 a year, which is less than $5 per month, is not that much, you cheapskates).

-I refuse to pay $35 for a four-player multitap.

-On a minor note, during daylight savings a few weeks ago, I went into my PS2's system interface to manually change the time. When I booted up my Xbox to do the same, lo and behold, it updated itself! Will wonders never cease?

I know, I know. Some malcontents in our viewing area are screaming, "But what about the games, Galvatron? HUH, HUH!" Settle down, my flock, here's the 411. I'll admit that because of the PS2 expansive library, it has a more diverse lineup of games but the Xbox has a more than decent lineup itself. Admit it, Sony myopians, gameplay-wise there are things that the 'box can do that the '2 cannot.

On a closing note, you have to respect Microsoft for being willing to lose money selling you a system at the same price as its competitor that has more than its competitor. Think about it this way: if you were buying a car from one guy above invoice, but another guy was selling you the same car below invoice with a few options thrown in, wouldn't you respect the second guy more? Food for thought.

Oh, and for those who have missed my "Deep Thoughts" posts and are clamoring for more, fret you not, my sheep and have patience; after all, one cannot rush an arteest. A new post will be delivered shortly.

You should have named this post "How to Put a Forum to Sleep in 592 Words or Less."

Actually most of this forum should be renamed"How many jealous gamers wish the PS2 and the GC was more like the Xbox.?"

If this wasnt true then why just about every word that comes out the mouths of so called gamers like you about MS is 95% of the time a negative response?
