Who would've thought that this hit from Bungie would still be raising hell even after two years.Halo still rules. It ruled on the Xbox and now its setting the PC world on fire.

Halo is currently online for PC gamers,in addition Halo is now a hit in Japan as well.If this is a sign of whats to come cant wait to see what Halo 2 brings to the table for PC/Xbox owners in the future.

You have to be kidding me. Halo is such a mediocre shooter on the PC it's not even funny. Blah, I played the game for all of a few hours and it hasn't been touched since.

I have to concur with SbS. Halo sold reasonably well because of the hype, the name, and the legions of teenagers that played it on their friend's Xbox and thought it was all the shiznitz. On the PC it's an average shooter at best with far more and far better competition. Chrome was released at the same time, and I'd recommend Chrome over Halo any day.

PC gamers see great FPS's all the time. But Halo without question is one of the best FPS's of all time. And Halo 2 looks to continue that tradition of quality. So SBS you've played Halo for a little while then stopped huh? Couldnt get through it? Play the game from start to finish and then get back to me.And for you wont be bored play it on Legendary. That'll whup some respect into you.Plus dont play it Co-op with a friend.Play it by yourself.

The fact that Halo even after two years is still making headlines truly shows just how great this game really is.Regardless of what you PC heads think.I dont see games like Chrome selling in flocks in Japan like Halo is.

the fact that a game may sell well in japan says nothing about how much i will personally like it. in fact, i think most games that have been really popular in japan are games that i stay away from.
you are right to say that we see, well, good FPSs all the time, but if anything this unoriginal trend, of which halo is smack in the middle, is boring us. almost any FPS is super hard or impossible if set on the highest difficulty level, so i doubt the fact that halo may be a challenge is going to persuade many of us to buy it. for your sake, i hope halo 2 is a hit for you console heads, but i'll probably be sticking to games with a bit more substance.

Hardly. It may be the best console FPS of all time, I'll give it that. But it's crap-tastic level design, poor textures, zero storyline, completely linear gameplay, etc make it, at best, a middle-of-the-road shooter for the PC. It has good AI, but that's all it has going for it.

I dont see games like Chrome selling in flocks in Japan like Halo is.

LOL This is true. You also won't see too many PC gamers give a flying f**k what sells in Japan. I've never in my life seen a movie or game come out of Japan that was worth any of my time. I don't go for the twitch-arcade gameplay or the ridiculous anime. Of course some of the console fanboys are going to say "WTF?? Japan gave us Pokemon!!", at which point I'll reply with "I rest my case."

I agree with H:
Sorry guy,
Halo for the PC was too little too late, and without coop play either.
Graphics were ho-hum,at best level design on the boring side, the aliens reminded me of MDK,control and gun balancing serviceable, online play /action pretty slow, until lag hit, then it got really sad.
There are so many GOOD FPS games for the PC,that it makes it difficult for a 2 year old title to generate enthousiasm.
If you liked it fine,it's just a question of taste and expectations.
The PC crowd is a bit more sophisticated nowadays, regarding fps especially.
As a parting shot,MS's marketing ploy to keep that game exclusive for the Box for 2 years soured things up too.
As far a the Japanese or any foreign market's preferences ,well, they have their likings,we got ours..................
Now your reference to us PC heads shows a bit of a bias here, many of the PC heads DO play consoles, and if I remember well, there is also a systems war forum for console/PC fanboys duels.

Hey Game Evo, Bungie didn't include the coop option for the PC, what a waste eh?

Halo looked pretty amazing when it was first announced a few years ago as a PC game. When they said it was being released on xbox instead of PC, I lost interest (not a console gamer, really).

Now I could kinda care less because as many have pointed out, it's dated material and there are much better FPS games out on the PC.

I personally am burnt out on most fps games but tried Halo. It was was nothing new and granted it might rock on a console I still say GR, Operation Flashpoint and many other pc games are far more involved than this stuff. I enjoyed NoLF more as well and Chrome looks sharper to me. You have to be really good to stand out on the pc in this category.

Anyone try out XIII yet?

I agree, i'm burnt out on FPS too... It's true that the games really need to stand out, but the recent trend in FPS getting shorter and shorter really scares me (Max Payne 2 or Call of Duty)... It's like the developers are packing all the entertainment into 6-7 hours of gameplay, but that's just not enough. With that being said, Halo does have a length of 20+ hours...

Oh, XII isn't supposed to be anything to talk about according to my sources.

Is Call of Duty really that short? I played the demo and thought it was incredible. But if the campaigns are really that short, there would be no real reason to buy it. The multi-player doesnt seem to stand out in anyway. As for Halo, did you really get 20 hours plus out of it? One last thing what was the big deal over Halo, I never really thought it was that significant a game, nothing really amazing about it i.m.o.

Yeah, CoD is really damn short..but like Max Payne 2 it's a kick in the pants while it lasts. I'd say it's worth buying just to pay the Russian campaign, the demo and the American and British campaigns could almost be considered training for the Ruskies.

Unlike MP2, though, CoD's length works against it. Max Payne was the perfect length for the type of game it was, any more and you'd eventually get tired of it..but CoD leaves you wanting alot more in the end. It'll last you a good 8-10 hours, so it's not horribly short, but if you're expecting more like I was you'll be disappointed.

Uh, hate to break it to ya, but 10 hours IS horribly short. I'd be damned if I bought anymore games for 70 bucks if each one was 10 hours only. I'm expecting 50+ hours from Knights of the Old Republic, and by damn, I better get it! 10 hours is too short if you ask me. 20 hours should be the bench mark I think to finish games

Couldn't get through it? Hardly, I couldn't stomach it more accurately. I play FPS like Doom, Ghost Recon, Chrome, System Shock 2, Deus Ex, Thief, NOLF, Morrowind, Wheel of Time, Battlezone, Half Life, and Battlefield 1942.... way too many great games to settle for console leftovers. The game smacks LARGE of consolitis, and thats where I think it should remain.

I see where you're coming from, but I'd still say it depends on the type of game. 20 hours should probably be a minimum for most action games. Maybe 40-50 hours for an RPG. But some games, like Max 2, are great at the length they are. More would not necessarily mean better in that case. I do think it should've been a bit cheaper though.

I didnt know that Bungie didnt include the co-op option for the PC version of Halo.Even though the Xbox got the co-op mode the PC's version of Halo got the flame thrower though.Plus isnt the PC's version online? Both versions apparently missed out on something.

Looks like Xbox won out on the developement of Invisible War.
Team designer Matt Baer:
"When we started working on Invisible War we targeted the console from day one. This time it wasnt an after thought [DE1 for PS2].
Every decision along the way considered we would be running on console"

[I wish they would have left the original interface for PC version ]
